So I love all the Tell Tale game series that I've played ... which may be all of them but this one (I've played TWD 1 & 2, The Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones first two episodes ... are there others?) but I've never played any Borderlands games.
1st Question: Do I really need to go play Borderlands and is that Handsome Collection coming out later this month the place to start?
2nd Question: Should I wait until I've played Borderlands to start this series so that I can get to know the characters and settings, avoid spoilers, etc or does that even matter?

2 buddies played it with me and didnt even know what borderlands was. they loved it

nope. totally different story and characters. characters from the games make cameo appearances, but nothing substantive

Maybe a little but Borderlands isn't a heavy story game anyway
