Watching the Nintendo direct right now and they just said several games will be available as early as this afternoon in the virtual console section of the Nintendo e shop!

LINK

quote:

The first set of games will launch today and includes:

Pilotwings
Super Mario World
F-Zero

On March 24th:

Super Mario Kart
EarthBound
Donkey Kong Country

Finally, on April 14th:

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Metroid
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

If I had a new 3DS, April 14th would be Christmas for me.

Tha April 14th collection is beastly. 3 of the, what, 25 or so best games ever made?

I'm a big Nintendo fan, but the crazy amount of time we wait for very simple things, that then aren't persistent, is infuriating.

On top of that the system is towards the end of its life.

Bump. A Link to the Past comes out in a couple of days.

I bought Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, and Super Mario Kart since starting this thread. Nostalgia is off the charts.

Still no good reason these aren't playable on the normal 3DS.

The CPU is the only thing I could think of. Still think the original would be more than enough to cover SNES though.

Nintendo claims the CPU on the old 3DS wasn't good enough to properly emulate their games at an acceptable level. It possible that is BS but maybe they wanted a perfect emulator that could play any SNES game w/o a problem. Sucks b/c if I had a New 3DS instead of a 3DS XL I'd probably buy several of these.

I've played through ALttP at least once year for the past 15+ years, probably my favorite game of all time.
