Well I never played that so what do I care and street fighter 2 has been repackaged a million times over so I don't see why this is somehow exceptional

The price sucks, but I'm in.

Companies constantly put Nintendo owners in a corner like this. If we buy it, we support their porting/development ways (and I do want this port, just better and more complete). If we don't they stop making games, and blame the fans for not buying the games they put on nintendo machines..

It should be $20-$25 max. And it should come with optional balance changes (HDR, these new changes, or original), Versioned Fighters (ST, etc.), and the OCR tracks from HDR. That would be "Ultra."

This is just an alternate version of HDR for twice the price essentially. I'll buy it for Online and with hopes that they follow through and support the Switch more fully in the future.

I hope they patch some stuff in.

Ha, and this just hit my feed. At least they are admitting it ahead of time:

LINK

quote:

"With Street Fighter 2 going on sale in May," he explained (per an IGN translator), "Capcom will monitor its performance with regard to supporting the Switch."

I really dislike when this happens, again say EA on the Wii and many, many companies afterwards.

"Here's a lame port/idea/not a core product if you don't buy this non-AAA thing that we really only did because we feel we had to, then we won't support the system going forwards."

If Capcom ported RE 7 or something, a real AAA, then assessed, I'd feel way better about these things. But expecting a 20+ year old game that everyone and their brother has played to be "successful" enough to determine support of core/AAA games is just terrible logic.

Capcom tends to display poor business sense.

They let insanely popular ips like castlevania and mega man lie dormant, while pulling idiotic moves like this.

The only smart thing they've done in recent
memory is make a push back to traditional survival horror with resi 7.

I'm having a hard time justifying this purchase, there is plenty of marketshare for capcom to utilize w the switch audience. If they want me to spend $40 for a $15 dollar game that hasn't really been relevant since the 90s, they can kick rocks.

a quick google search reveals it has sold less than 2 million copies between both playstation and PC. it has been out over a year.

it will be interesting to see how many copies this sells

ETA: having said that SFV looks awesome and would be more exciting. Sales don't mean shite to me the consumer, but It's not like SFV is some worldwide phenomenon that Nintendo is missing out on.

Yes, but you figured they could at least get SF4, a game that blew up the fighting game scene back in '08. SF5 didn't do well because of horrible technical issues brought on by the fact that it was rushed out the door in order to be available for Evo. Gameplay wise, it's just fine.

SF2U is a re-release of a '94 game. I don't know if that's just what was available for them to port or it's reflective of the limitations of the Switch.

SF5 will have 10 different versions just like every SF game. The first one was a mess but I'm sure they will correct it in later versions. I don't know why Nintendo wouldn't try to get the latest version of a game, or at least a recent one. The last SF4 would be fine too.

It honestly feels as if anything other than Nintendo IP is just going to be filler. Lot's of developers have flat out said there are no plans for their current games to come to the Switch, so anything 3rd party is going to be an older port.

Yep, I'm concerned that the FIFA that they intend on releasing this year will be some half-assed experimental effort to see if EA sports should get into the Switch arena. Word will get out that this bare bones FIFA game sucks, therefore there will never be in traction in getting games like Madden on the system.

for real.

I can't stand when a game company bitches that people must not want their games on that system when they release a gimped port at full price (usually months) after it's been out on other platforms for cheaper.

My favorite recent one of this was when EA put out Mass Effect 3 on WiiU. Before the game is even out they said it wasn't getting the DLC and oh by the way they also released a Mass Effect Trilogy at the same time for PS3 and 360 for the same fricking price. When the WiiU version predictably sells poorly they come to the brilliant conclusion of "Oh, WiiU owners must not want ME. " Uh... no you frick sticks. WiiU owners wanted the full fricking trilogy and the DLC that everyone else got. Why the hell would anyone buy ME3 when they can get ME Trilogy w/DLC support elsewhere?

Going to be honest

I didn't know there was a 4 or a 5 until now. 5 looks really cool. I thought fighting games were a relic of the 90s. Just don't seem as popular but what do I know

Street fighter 2 seems logical to me from Nintendo's perspective

People who play little to no video game loved street fighter 2 and for switch owners there are a few games right now but always looking for more so I think the timing of the release is good for sales but I agree the price point is too high.

For me though...excited and will play

Would definitely buy for $20-$25. For $40? I'll pass.

It's the 30th anniversary of Street Fighter this year. That is a partial reason for SF2 on switch.
