Disagree, the future of TV is streaming and the One does nothing for that aside from apps which TV's, BR players, and other consoles have, as well as websites.
Cable and satellite tv subscribers continue to decline and the One is basically useless if you don't pay for cable.
I'll be ditching TV myself when I move coming up, WatchESPN/ESPN3/Hulu/Amazon is all I need/want and is significantly cheaper. I've just about quit watching TV outside a couple of shows, mainly just sports now. WatchESPN/3 will take care of that, and I already own NHL GameCenter and MLB Extra Innings for my main sports watching anywhere and on anything.
Never paying $70-120 for Cable/Satellite TV ever again.

You call it useless in one sentence then say you are going to do what MS basically wants people to do in the next.
MS doesn't care if you watch the apps or cable through the system as long as the Xbone is on and you are using it.
The more people cut the cord, and the more apps Xbox adds, then that gives people more value in using the Xbone as an HTPC on top of it being a gaming system.
ETA: I know TVs and other things have the apps as well FWIW. Not everyone has a smart TV yet though. Also, in the long term MS thinks the Xbox will do more than just entertainment. I am 100% certain of it.

That's just it though, consoles have apps which are used for streaming TV. There are only a few apps that do so like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu which are all universal and available on any console, tablet, web browser, phone, TV, BR player, etc. Too saturated of a market to make shite off of the apps alone.
Ones big selling feature is a dead end requiring a cable subscription that is a dying market being taken over by streaming.
Gamers are still going to drive that side of the console, as any new TV has those apps built in, same with BR players, and like I said there's 5000 other devices that stream them and on the go anywhere.
The more people that cut the cord the weaker the Xbone features get.
Investors are dead on accurate. Not like cutting the cord is a new trend.

It is a trojan horse. Get people used to the idea of watching TV through the XBone while fighting for Net Neutrality. If they get net neutrality then they launch their own TV service.
If they don't well they still have people using the XBone for everything which will eventually translate to $$$$$$

Sony is already one step ahead of them in that department, having already signed Viacom to a Live TV streaming deal.
Streaming is definitely where it's at going forward.

I don't quite understand why your post is responding to me here. The first Xbox lost them around $6 billion. They never made any money on the Xbox division until year 4 of the 360. LINK
They're expected to lose another billion on this division, but that's largely due to the Nokia sale. As I said earlier, it's hard to get a good read because so many things are lumped in with Xbox (all android licensing, which was $2 billion this year alone, several MS programs, and all OEM MS Office sales). The windows phones might be another thing to cut as well ,but it looks like it finally hit profitability. Its starting to slowly catch on. I gotta admit I tried it the other day and it was slick as hell. I might get one as my next phone.

This guy has broadcast TV on his PC, he controls it with a surface, and displays it on his TV using the Xbox One. All of the voice commands still work.

Yeah that's called Chromecast and doesn't require a $500 console but a $35 dongle from Google.
They're pretty sweet, got one a few months back, quite a few apps for it already and a bunch more on the way and Google just opened up the SDK publicly so you'll be able to mirror apps themselves shortly.
