This seems to include a lot of the mods in the pack. It should help you with recipes. for some mods, there are more than one recipe depending on the mods installed, in that case, double check in NEI (the search bar toward the bottom of your inventory screen).

okay, it says to make a machine block, make a forge hammer.
I can't do that.
So that's a BS recipe
Then it says the other way is to make refined iron. But that is bs too, because putting iron in the furnace does nothing, nothing at all.
Can I get the recipe kits that you guys are actually using?
OK. Just found out that I can look up almost anything in the inventory menu.
Got my sterling engine. About to make a generator and some batteries. Then try and find 11 diamonds to build a quarry.
I can't do that.

Mind looking into the ex nihilo mod? It adds a lot more seeds, and a few other things. The one thing I really like about it is that it allows you to make a crucible, which you can use to heat and melt cobble into lava. Since some of these machines can run off lava, it's pretty awesome to set up a auto-cobble maker, and pipe it to the crucible to auto generate lava, and then pipe to machinery.

you need to update the mod, we installed baubles and solar flux today to get a better option of solar panels, should be running 1.9

I ran an update before you pushed baubles. It says 1.9, but gives me the error still. Even reinstalled pack. I'll try to delete it completely and reinstall.

That's showing you dont have both. Salty and Napoleon got through fine with the update.
Just drop the two files in this zip into your mod folder in the tdgb modpack

now that I know about the stuff, I've been building self miners. I still haven't found the diamnds to make a quarry, but the sell drillers are neat.
Can clear down to bedrock with them.
going to build some semi automated farms and a creature catch next.
Pretty cool stuff.
I need to go exploring more. I found some large oil deposits. I see that is needed in the game, so Im planning a refinery soon.

yeah, it gets a lot more fun when you figure out NEI recipes and such. Look into making dark steel armor. You can mod it out with crystals and such and it is virtually unstoppable maxxed out. Setup a wireless charger in your house, so you can recharge without thinking about it.

I was able to make a nice shortcut thru the nether and can be up north in just a couple of minutes so it is not problem. I remember losing my first set of good armor, `tis depressing.
