We're going to start buying consoles every 4 years instead of every 5, which is huge imo.

I mean this was basically the average pre-360/PS3.

I am interested if Sony pulled Neo from their presentation because of the Project Scorpio specs

Sony had already stated weeks ago that the Playstation Neo would not make an apperance at E3

According to a Sony Interactive CEO he was also surprised by the announcement of Project Scorpio.

This would lead me to believe that the Project Scorpio announcement had nothing to do with an absent Neo.

Sony is serious about virtual reality
Microsoft seems to know there is sizable market of consumers willing to upgrade and they are coming for it.

This

And add Battlefield 1 sold me after some doubt.

As a pc gamer, bring on the upgraded consoles.

I remember how miserable it was when Xbox 360 and ps3 lasted years outside of their viability and it affected games across the entire industry.

On the games side - Yawn. I wanted to hear more about ME4 with a real trailer.

Console side - Scorpio is interesting but I don't for a second believe the over the top hype / expectations for VR / 4k.

Horizon: Zero Dawn
Caught the trailer for that the other day and it really piqued my interest. Definitely looking forward to it.

E3 was a mixed bag this year IMO. The biggest takeaway from me is the new direction of GoW. As a huge God of War fan that was such a hit or miss demonstration. It seems like they made large strides in story telling which is awesome. I want to see kratos teach his kid to not be a bitch. However all the advances in story seemed to be completely conteracted by the gameplay changes. Say whatever you want about the story but God of War games have fun and occasionally challenging gameplay. The combat looked like Ryse and that's not a good thing. I understand the new camera limits what you can do but from that angle they should go for more dark souls than Ryse.

What God of War did you play? Combat has always been square square triangle for 10 hours.

I think this is a tad unfair. I know you've said you've never been big on fighting games but God of War (and Devil May Cry before it) scratched a similar itch for me. I used to love seeing how high I could get the combo meter or kill enemies in the most stylish way. Sure, on the normal difficulty you can beat most enemies by just repeating the same combo but that's not always the point.

Regarldess, I'm glad they are going a new direction with GOW. I really didn't want another one despite being a fan of the series and I don't think a 3rd person action game of that kind can survive these days as a big budget title. My interest is piqued.

Normal. GOW on normal is really easy and just repetitive.

Maybe that's true I've only played them on hard and up. Like I said I enjoy God of War gameplay and find it occasionally difficult but that's subjective.

I couldn't be less excited after an E3. I feel there was a real lack of any news from the major parties except DICE and BF1.

Red Dead Series - Nothing Mentioned

GTA Series - Nothing Mentioned

Halo Series - Halo Wars 2 (people played the first one?). Series has been dead to be since Halo 4, but was hoping for something to pull me back in.

Bethesda - Skyrim re-release for Xbox One with MINIMAL updates. Next Elder Scrolls in the works, but long time before we hear about it (talking years)

Madden - Looks the same as past 4 releases, hard to get excited.

NCAA - Can a guy still hope.

Zelda - This game ended after Majora's Mask for me.

Halo 5 has the 2nd best multiplayer of the series imo
