My favorite trick:

If you're alone in a store, pick up a basket, flip it upside down, and place it on their head. Then steal everything in the store.

Takes some practice but you can get some serious loot.

Also, there is a hidden chest that randomly spawns cool stuff up North.

I may have to start playing this again. My favorite quests were the thieves guild, assassins guild, masks, and the dwarves.

What are some good mods other than the his res textures to use, I am only looking for things that enhance the original or make things better.

Essentials:
Official High Resolution Patch
Unofficial Skyrim Patch
Unofficial High Resolution Patch (if you have the High Res Patch)
Unofficial Dawnguard Patch (if you have the DLC)
Unofficial Hearthfire Patch (if you have the DLC)
Unofficial Dragonborn Patch (if you have the DLC)
SkyUI
Immersive HUD
Acquisitive Soul Gems

Minor Gameplay:
Unread Books Glow
Glowing Ore Veins
Crimson Nirnroot Quest Markers
Barenziah Quest Markers
Convenient Horses
Blacksmith Chests
Less Annoying Items (Basically just reduces the weight of stuff)

Visual:
A Quality World Map
Better Dynamic Snow
Enhanced Distant Terrain
Enhanced Night Skyrim
Dance of Death
There are a number of body/character enhancing visual mods. It's really personal choice which you use.

Additional Quest Lines:
Helgen Reborn

By starting another Bethesda game and probably their best one and the only game that could suck me in more than FO4

Realizing that none of the quests have any effect on the story.
Most dialogue options railroad you to the same conclusion.
No skills.
How many times did you find really interesting characters only to have very little interaction with them? Tons.
You also aren't your character, you're just along for the ride.
Every problem is solved with killing, or leading to killing.
No karma.
I want to be able to play as a character with an INT of 1 and experience this again: LINK

It's a damn good game, but it's not a great RPG.

Huh?

Pretty much all of the skills have immense importance.

My character was level 114 and there were still a pile of skills I wanted to get.

If by skill, you mean you wanted to stand next to a pile of rocks and mine for 347 hours then, nope nope nope.

The new dialogue is terrible compared to all other Bethesda games. And no karma blows

Thats not what skills are.

Skills, like in previous Fallout games, are:
Big Guns
Guns
Firearms
Energy Weapons
Explosives
Unarmed
Melee Weapons
Throwing
Doctor
First Aid
Medicine
Medic
Lockpick
Security
Repair
Mechanics
Science
Sneak
Steal
Survival
Traps
Buren
Barter
Deception
Gambling
Outdoorsman
Persuasion
Pilot
Speech

They became, in a very small way, part of the Perks system.

And, not to derail the thread all that much - I didn't want to play "Elder Scrolls: Fallout" - I wanted to play a sequel to Fallout 2 - Fallout 1 and 2 were excellent, immersive RPGs (for their day) and I like turn-based combat (Jagged Alliance was excellent, too).

But, Bethesda got it and did what they do. I don't hate on the games, but they weren't what I, as an original Fallout player, wanted.

The new X-COM is good, but not really a RPG - much more of a strategy game, but one that is really true to the spirit of the original X-COM. I wish they had gotten the Fallout IP. But, it is what it is.

Good times. Those were fantastic role-playing games. Difficult to believe Fallout 2 was almost 20 years ago.

And, I still haven't played Wasteland 2 - got caught up in Kerbal. But, maybe in the Spring.

Still amazes me how Skyrim convinces peoole that it's good, especially since Witcher 3 came out and showed us what a huge budget, open world RPG should be.

Skyrim sucks arse in every aspect but its scope and progression. Its combat is horrible, its story is by-the-numbers, its quest design is monotonous, and its main choices are binary. And don't forget that it's one of the buggiest pieces of shite ever.

Skyrim was the first RPG I played. It actually soured me on the genre for awhile. Since most people seemed to love Skyrim and I couldn't force myself past Hrolthgar (sp), I thought the genre just wasn't for me.

TL;DR: Skyrim is bad and Bethesda should feel bad.

I loved Witcher 2 and 3 and they are great games. I like Skyrim because of the different builds and customization you can do in it.

Witcher 3 is amazing but saying Skyrim sucks arse in every aspect basically is opinion. I am a RPG fan from the NES days and Skyrim is top 5 of not top 3 of the genre. I may change my opinion after I get through the first part but I love it right now. (I put 24 days of playtime in Witcher 3)

I don't.

Skyrim is a bad game. If you want to waste 200 hours in a bad game, go ahead. It's not my time you're wasting.
