I'd buy it just to have a playable version of COD4 on PS4, would probably ignore the new game altogether

So does this mean the next game is MW4?
If this is true, I would really think about buying in again. The article says the games would not be remastered, which would kind of suck. They would have to patch those games back up, though. And what about DLC for those games?

COD is becoming Xbox and Playstation's version of Pokemon 
It's a shame because the graphics in those games are usually top notch.

Yes please. As someone who didn't play Ghost or Advanced Warfare but got back into BLOPS 3 I would stay into COD for AW4 with backwards compatibility with the earlier titles.

Why even make a new game?
Just reskin those 2 games for new consoles, add some stuff, and sell them as a combo.
Much better than having to buy another crap IW game, just to get those 2.

Because IW and TreyArch won't be able to help themselves.
Even tho the fanbase wants updated and patched servers with the exact same content, up to the last DLC and patch.
TreyArch and IW, would read that as, the fans want MW1 & 2 maps with power sliding, jet packs, super hero powers, and new camos for the old weapons, such as : Bacon Wrapped, Tie Dye, and Platinum.

I'll be happy if they bring the game back to modern times with modern weapons and soldiers. The newer games seem to be Titanfall without the Titans. I'd buy MW4 if they went back to today's military setting and included patched CoD4 and MW2.

I've never seen a scenario like this where the game developers consistently and blatantly ignore the fanbase.

Backwards compatibility is a bit of a mess on Xbox one. It's like those launch model PS3 consoles that could play PS2 games only minus 10 FPS and with graphical glitches.
