This game held me for a few months when it came out, but haven't played it in a long time.

Haven't heard that name in a while.

Another in a long list of WoW "killers"

It is a far superior WoW clone. It was not marketed nearly as heavily as it needed to be to beat WoW. Rift almost seemed to be designed to prove that a WoW clone is not able to beat WoW. Too many suckers have too much time invested in WoW. A clone would really have to build a new base with a shitload of marketing, and then focus on stealing the sexless losers still playing WoW.

I wanted to try Storm Legion. Unfortunately I don't really have time to play Rift at the moment.

Pretty much. Why would anyone go through the grind to get max level and raid geared, etc. in a new game that does almost the exact same thing as the old game that you are already max level and raid geared.

Rift was WoW with a "twist" in that it had the constant invasions and shite going on. I briefly played the beta and it felt almost identical to WoW. That plus the idea of having shite constantly shifting with invasions sounded kind of annoying are why I never made the switch.
