to play a game like skyrim, modded out, with texture packs n the such, what kind of video card would you be looking at?

i know from watching videos of mods n the such, you can have major drop in frame rates with some of the texture packs. So would a better video card handle this, or are you looking at losses of frame rates, unless you go with some video card in the thousands?

You guys have me thinking abut going to a gaming PC. all of the games, especially with mods can be turned from console vanilla to great games, on pc's.

There a very few of these. The high end video cards are from $350-500, and will run anything perfectly at 1080p.

I believe what you are looking for is a card with 2+ GBs of VRAM, you need a sufficient amount to run all the mods you want. If I'm wrong someone will be along shortly to correct me.

I have a ridiculous number of mods, including HQ textures. My single 6950 unlocked to 6970 did just fine. Added another 6950 and of course crossfire and skyrim don't mix. Changed to a single 7970 and things are perfect at max settings. Definitely no need to spend thousands, or even waste your money on the $900 dual-GPU cards. $300 or less, really, being sure the card has 2GB vram or more. Skyrim is only Directx9.

The campaign is pretty fun in Crysis 3. They added more open areas unlike Crysis 2.
