bump from page 2
im dealing with the worst infected computer ive ever had. decent computer, i5 4gb ram etc, but the svchost.exe app is infected and runs continuously until it shuts the computer down. starts out around 80% and within minutes shoots to 95% of physical memory usage.
additionally, networking is blocked by a local host 127.0.0.1 AND a group policy setting is blocking anti virus and security programs from being run.
safe mode? same
clean boot? same
run combofix? blows it up in the middle of the process.
run sys file check? see above
the verdict? a very nasty MBR rootkit that WILL NOT frickING LEAVE. i really need a way to fix this sonofabitch without reloading, way too many programs and files to put back for the client.
any programs not listed below anyone can think of? im at a loss. so far ive run (either from the infected computer or with the hdd in a cradle):
avg
malwarbytes
io bit malware
superantispyware
tdsskiller
roguekiller
adwcleaner
mbr
note i cannot use hitman since the infected computer will not connect to the internet. this includes booting up with hitman kickstarter.

My 900D build is complete.
As a reminder, here are the specs:
i7-4770k (delidded, die repasted with liquid ultra)
MSI Z87 MPower
16GB (2 x 8GB) G.Skill Ripjaws X, 2133MHz, CL9
2 x MSI Reference Design 7970 GHz Edition
Seasonic X-1250 Gold
Corsair 900D case
Lamptron FC-5 V2 Fan Controller
LG Blu-Ray Burner
Cooling:
Heatkiller full-cover blocks and backplates for 7970
XSPC Raystorm CPU block
2 x Alphacool ST 30 rads (thanks Coyote)
Swiftech MCP35X pump
Bitspower Water Tank Z-Multi 250 Inline Reservoir
9 x Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-15 fans
The only modding I did to the case was drilling two small holes to mount the res. Everything fits nicely in this massive case. There is so much room behind the motherboard to route cables that I didn't even have to think about or plan out my cable management ahead of time.
The MPower had yellow trim that I repainted silver with heat-tolerant paint.
And here are pics:
I didn't take any photos of the bottom panel, but it folds down to reveal one of the radiators. Behind that is my pump, which is decoupled simply by suspending it in mid-air.

I used my daughter as a frame of reference for the case's size:

That looks beautiful. If I had one gripe for it, the tube going from the bottom video card to 5.25. Is the pump in the bay?
Posted on 10/11/13 at 3:36 pm to bluebarracuda
Nope, that tube is going from GPU to the top radiator, which is the one in push/pull. The pump is actually right below the reservoir, suspended in mid-air by the tubing coming from the bottom of the reservoir.
I wasn't a fan of making that long run from the GPU either, but it's the loop order that I wanted, which is: Res -> Pump -> Push Rad -> GPUs (parallel) -> Push/Pull Rad -> CPU -> Res
I wanted a Rad before each block, but most importantly I wanted a strong rad before the CPU block. The GPUs have such large dies that any sort of water cooling will essentially cut temps in half, but the CPU (particularly the Haswell's small die with all the integrated heat-producing components) needs all the help it can get. The loop order isn't super-important, but the main thing I wanted to avoid was running GPU -> CPU with nothing in between.
