Same boat, haswell wasn't worth an upgrade and broad well may skip desktop.

Well my wife got paid today for the first time from her new job so now that I know what she is making I won't be upgrading either

Yea I am concerned with that. I'm hoping I can get a decent job at least though.

Well GTA is console only right now. Batman and BF4 come out in late october though.

my guess is you are going to have to put in at least 6 months at something paying very little before decent job offers come in. experience plays such a big role in this industry. you should have a leg up since youll have at least the A+ and maybe more before you even get into a position.
of course, you could absolutely luck into a position like i did immediately after your internship is up.

I've seriously considered IT work myself, but the time needed to gain experience at low pay isn't really a viable option for me at this point. Plus, I feel like I won't enjoy it as a hobby anymore once it becomes a job. That's what happened to me with writing. Used to love writing and editing, then I got published, then I started regularly contributing to a magazine, then got another gig for an online newsletter, then got promoted to editor-in-chief of the other magazine, followed by getting a job after college where a major part of my job is writing, editing, and formatting documents... and now I don't write for fun anymore. The PC guide is the longest thing I've written in years, by far.

After I'm done with a+ I'm going to start working with our it department so hopefully that will help. I feel the same way about it already being a hobby but it's a better job than I have now and I think it will be a lot better in the long run.
