You won't even get full use out of an i5 and cheaper motherboard, so why spend more than you have to on the i7 and a motherboard with features you'll never use?

lol, I don't even really try anymore.

You have experience with that thermaltake water cooler? I stopped recommending all-in-one water coolers to people nowadays, for simplicity sake. They all seem to be not much better than a big-arse Noctua but have more points of failure.

Yep, some people just can't think straight

I've seen good reviews on that Cooler. I still prefer AIOs since they aren't nearly as bulky as those noctua beasts

I'm thinking I'd like a gaming PC, but I don't want to have to sit at a desk to play games. Could I build a PC and have it set up in my living room hooked up to my TV to game?

Is a Steam Box something I should look into?

You can build a nice HTPC/Gaming PC for $300-400 if you buy used.

I have one of my PCs hooked up to my tv in my living room with the Xbox one controller adapter

Money is less of an issue. I don't really want to spend 2k on a pc or anything, but I can definitely spend more than 300-400. I have a friend that could help build one since I know next to nothing about doing that, but he had just mentioned a steam box when I said I wanted to game from my couch.

Steam boxes are usually more expensive than pre builts for what you get

Edit: I didn't mean pre builts... I meant custom builds

Can you point me in the direction of where to buy a used pre-built? "Used" scares me a bit about what I would be getting. Also, would this mean that I just use it as is, or would I take it and swap out some parts for better ones?

He means buying used parts. You can save a lot by buying a chronic upgrader's last-gen parts, especially CPUs, motherboards, and GPUs. 4-5 year old Intel i5 CPU/Motherboard combos are still perfectly acceptable for a mid-range gaming PC. Likewise for 2-3 year old GPUs that were high-end at the time.

Blue seems to have a knack for finding cheap parts. I wouldn't recommend buying a used prebuilt, simply because every one I've ever seen is always priced too high and/or has a bad configuration of components, but buying used parts is perfectly fine.

I edited my last post.

I meant custom built instead of pre built. A steam box is a pre built PC, but a building one yourself is always cheaper

What other Bitcoins wallets do you guys use?

My damn Coinbase accounts got shut down. Was doing really good buying low and selling high during this peak in BTC value.

I don't get his memory or mboard choices. 6700k is okay I guess, since it seems like its on sale for around 300 or below every week.

quote:

the extra 60$ for the 6700k was just for future proofing.

Future proofing is a fallacy. If you really wanted to "future proof," you should have gone with the x99 build that I posted. Better overall build, and the enthusiast line will have better value down the road
