I think this would be great if I could use a controller, but since I can't I will pass.

You can, why cant you?

I can connect my PS4 controller via bluetooth, a wireless 360 controller with dongle, wired XBONE controller and Steam controller.

Everything works fine.

I have no feeling in my left thumb and first two fingers which are what you use for the stick and buttons, it's why I bitch about key mapping so much. If I try to use wasd i always find my finger slipping to other keys without knowing it.

Carpal tunnel? I have carpal tunnel in both arms and ulnar nerve entrapment in both arms. I need surgery on both but have to wait until next August when I'm off the blood thinners from my heart procedure I had in June.

Meanwhile, I'm losing strength and dexterity in my hands at an alarming rate.

I have ulnar nerve entrapment too, but the sensations from it come and go. My Dr. told me to 800mb ibuprofen when it happens. I guess he doesn't think it's going to be a serious problem... It sucks when it does happen though. It's not painful per se, but just a really uncomfortable feeling.

I don't look forward to getting old.

Keep an eye on it. It sucks. It's so bad in my right hand that my hand is starting to deform a bit. If I extend my fingers I can't make all of them touch. The pinky sticks out at a 30 degree angle.

Thanks for the nice thoughts DO. The surgeon says I'll regain everything once I have to operation. Catch 22. The surgeon won't do the surgery with me on blood thinners and my cardiologist says I absolutely have to stay on them for a year to prevent the stents from clotting.

Given that, how do you normally map keys? For example, let's say it's the default for a game is WASD movement, Shift to sprint, CTRL crouch, Space to jump, various interactions via Q/E/F etc.

up arrow forward
down arrow back
left arrow strafe left
right arrow strafe right
right shift sprint
num pad 1 jump
num pad 0 crouch
naga 1 reload
naga 2 activate
naga 3 grenade
naga 4 depends on game
naga 5 heal
naga 6 depends on game
del, end, and pgdwn are dependant on game.

num pad 4, enter, and \ are wild cards. I have enough to get what I need but some game designers still restrict it.

So you use your left hand for the mouse? Seems like the keypad I mentioned in the Fallout 4 thread might be of some use to you in those instances where keymapping is limited.

Oh, I see. You just use the arrows so that there's no other keys in the way.
