I'm done with Nintendo for a bit. Bought a Wii U and logged maybe 20 hours on it over 6 months. Then it just died. Nintendo said I was pretty much SOL.

It might digitally. But that wouldn't do any good for people who already have a wii u with physical discs.

I just don't see them going with a tablet controller again.

The tablet controller was a great idea but the console itself is just so weak compared to the other consoles that are out. Plus they force developers to take the gamepad into account, which drives a lot of them away.

Luckily there are very few games that use it.

Meh, I had no problem with my my U being weak compared to my PS4. I hated that large arse gamepad though.

I don't have a problem with it either, but developers do.

would make sense that it does

also bet it can be taken portable and played through your other consoles.

Not many games forced you to use it though. You could have easily bought a Pro controller which is actually a fantastic option.

That's pretty odd. Nintendo has been well known to have the most sturdy equipment in the gaming industry. That's always been a big selling point of theirs.

So now you have to invest even more into the platform just to have a controller that doesn't suck

The game pad is fine. I love being able to play on it while the wife watches HGTV or whatever. I don't see the hate. It's not terribly heavy. The only legitimate gripe I get is battery which was horrible I'll admit.

Any console comes with one controller nowadays. Microsoft sells media remotes and packages the kinect (paying more money for something most people dislike), etc.

Let's not act like Nintendo is alone in making it difficult to buy a single console box and being happy with it.

Didn't say that. Other consoles come with a serviceable controller though. The gamepad has it's uses but don't act like I'm the only one who dislikes it.

Kinect is a good example of a bad idea that Microsoft later took out. Nintendo isn't the only one to make the mistake but Microsoft fixed theirs before it was too late.

The gamepad is serviceable. Ideal? Maybe not. Serviceable, yes.

People who complain so much about the gamepad are just looking for something to complain about imo, because they are mad about other things with the Wii U, lack of power, 3rd party support, Nintendo's own 1st party release schedule, etc. These are all valid problems.

Nintendo is stubborn, this nothing new. And again, it has served as a virtue more often than not.

Look at the DS, no one thought that would work at the time. Two screens? Huh, why? Then for a few years....
