I don't really care if the Switch launches without Netflix and video streaming. Everything has Netflix/Youtube/Amazon Prime Video on it these days from other gaming consoles, to computers, to smart phones, tablets, streaming media devices, blu ray players, and smart TVs. Odds are overwhelmingly strong that whoever buys a Switch already has a means to access those services and isn't buying a Switch just for that.
I do feel though that it speaks to a larger issue whereby Nintendo doesn't understand the modern home console market -- something they have failed to understand since the N64 days. Also, Netflix was a huge reason people bought the Wii and kept it plugged in after they got bored with Wii Sports. Lets not forget that.

it's clear they're not quite ready for launch as they don't have the video apps and Mario kart port should absolutely be a launch as it is a game that emphasizes one of the play styles that makes this unique.
having said that, I want Zelda right effing now, march 3rd is already too long of a wait

The Netflix/Amazon/Hulu issue made me think of something:
Is there a reason that someone like Nintendo wouldn't just allow a Kodi app? What's their interest in disallowing it? Could they get sued? Do Netflix and Co. pay them to keep Kodi off of it? FireTV and Apple is kind of obvious on why they don't, since they have their own streaming and video service, but why wouldn't Nintendo allow it?

I'm jonesing at this point. Most of the time when I want to play PS4 I have to commit to hanging in the office for an hour or two. The idea of just picking it up and going chill in the living room or play a little in bed before knocking out is pretty fantastic. Or completely on the go.
All of the videos I've watched of BOtW have me committed to buying one even if just for that. It has just the right amount of "artsy ambience" I'll call it. It doesn't go full windwaker but it has that touch that comes out very nicely.

I doubt a company that is as protective of it's IP as Nintendo is would allow something like Kodi on their machine.

How in the frick do you release a gaming console in 2017 without gameplay streaming capabilities or video app support (Netflix/HBO, etc).
Oh no!!! Now I'll have to use my RokuUltra, Roku3, PS4, PS3, WiiU, Wii, FireStick, smart Tv, iPad, laptop, desktop, iPhone, or the on demand from the cable box to watch TV!!!

So true. Everyone has a phone. But it is a disappointing a little

If it goes a year or more w/o video apps? Sure.
But if it gets them after a few months like w/the 3DS? Meh..

So it's looking like the Switch might actually be a good bit more powerful than we thought. If you missed it, there was a foxconn leak a while back that placed it near xbone level power-wise. More and more details of that leak have been confirmed (such as weight of the system, battery voltage, etc.).
This guy explains it better than I can but supposedly everything currently slated for release was developed on an earlier devkit version (specs of which were reported on by eurogamer) which was only recently replaced by the final version.

Rumors are still rumors. I mean, this sounds great, however, a near portable X1? That has to be a stretch.
And I'd think if it were THAT close, companies like EA would already be all over it with their easy to port games. Unless this is purely a rushed release thing. Would love to see the specs, but I expect something significantly less powerful than current gen, enough to create porting problems.
I have no facts for that assumption though,
