14 y/o just got one for b-day. What are the relevant games for this system.
On the PS4 he is into RPG, COD, Battlefield, and such. Scary games as well. What is a good lead here?

Thanks

Mario + Rabbids is a good RPG. Splatoon for shooting. You have to get him Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey though.

Zelda, Mario Kart 8, and Mario Odyssey is what I'd recommend. Nothing that really compares with COD, Battlefield, or horror games.

Doom is coming out Nov. 10. We have no early reactions/previews yet.

Zelda, Splatoon and Mario+Rabbids are probably the best three games. Add in Odyssey and maybe Disgaea and that's a good start.

ARMS may be an outlier

Do you even splatoon, bro?

Also, the new Xenoblade come out in December should be a phenomenal RPG. The first one was my favorite WiiU game

I have played Splatoon and Splatoon 2. I will once again say that it's nothing like those games. You will be incredibly disappointed if that's what you want.

I haven't played Mario Rabbids, so I can't comment on that one. I've heard good things, but it's more a strategy game than an RPG.

I would recommend Splatoon either way, it's a great shooter. Also Doom comes out in less than a month

I don't really know (because I don't play Overwatch), but Splatoon seems more in line with Overwatch than COD and shooters of that nature. Very role oriented and team tactical (or well... as team tactical as you can be without good team chat support).

The different "modes" (Rainmaker, Turf War, Tower Control) gamify it a bit more as well.

The best comparison of Mario + Rabbids to another game would have to be XCom.

It’s a squad-level turn-based strategy game built around cover and shooting with some RPG-like elements.

You get up to three actions each turn... movement (including sliding into opponents or going into pipes), shooting, and a special ability such as reduced damage or the ability to shoot at an enemy who crosses your line of sight.

ARMS is a cool game. Zelda and Splatoon 2 are a must.

And Mario Kart. That's an excellent first 3 games to start off with and will likely hold him over for months alone.
