Same here You are being helpful though. I diffidently want something that i can upgrade in the future though.

This is what i'm looking for. I want to build something I can play games on right now and will be update but also be able to update in the future. I want to keep the cost down though. So, all these things i have listed are things bluebaracoda had wrote up for me. This is my first build so a lot of this is new to me.

Are you saying I should maybe look at a different motherboard?

No not at all. I love ASRock, great company IMO.

It is the APU thing, I just don't get it if it isn't for a small form factor build. That is a whole regular size tower you have there.

You could always upgrade your GFx card but would be stuck with the same GPU that your APU is running if you go with that FM2 socket.

I don't know how future proof APUs are. I have little experience with them and just built my first build with an APU just 1-2months ago.

If you want to keep it cheap then stay with AMD. Maybe get a FX-41XX chip on a AM3+ socket. That could hold you off until getting a better GPU like a 7850 or 7950.

Only thing to look out for is the crossfire compatibility with the APU. You can't run "dual graphics" with some cards.

Will i be able to crossfire cards with that APU?
If not what APU could i get instead of this one in the same price range?

Yep and makes it difficult to upgrade.

Yea.

..I almost suggest just a CPU like I stated above.

I just read this on another forum..
quote:

Correct me if I am wrong but you'll need to use a Radeon card 7600 series or lower to get hybrid CFX with an A10.

Others seems to have confirmed this also.

Saying that, you wouldn't even be able to CFx that GPU with the APU.

Now that we know you can't CFx that GPU with the APU, I would go with just a CPU.

Something in your price range in the FX-41XX or FX-43XX series.

You can get that combo for like $130 (yesterday, today around $150)

Proposed Combo:

MOBO for future CFx cards:

$ 69.99 - ASRock 970 Extreme3

MOBO for no CFx plans:

$39.99 - MSI 760

CPU for your budget:

$109.99 - AMD FX-4100 (they were $79.99 yesterday)

CPU I would purchase on a budget:

$129.99 - AMD FX-4300

Ahh okay well guess i wont be running dual monitors then. I'm getting so many different answers. I posted my build on another site and people are ripping it apart. I don't know what to order at this point haha

You could always go with an i3 also. Or you can get a used i5 2500k and have an awesome cpu for the price.

I almost bought a used one for $120 for shits and gigs butpassed it up. I know you said you don't want to buy used, but you'll get far better parts for your money.

Yeah i want to go with new parts and i can always add/upgrade. Also, i think i'm just going to run 8GB of ram. Save $50 there and buy a little better motherboard.

BTW I have a similar MSI board in my home server. I love that little budget board.

Here are some old pics of my setups.

It is always fun to jump into PC builds. You will have headaches and really enjoy it also.

Makes me wish I went electrical over mechanical field.
