It will probably be coupled with COD IW for a limited time. I bet at some point you will be able to buy it on its own.

Yep. They did the same thing with the old Zombie maps one time. You could only get them if you pre-ordered but then they eventually sold them as DLC. Activision is too greedy to leave any money on the table.

Well of course. They know no one would even bother with that new jet-pack, laser beam garbage if they could get the old-fashioned COD.

Modern Warfare is not old fashioned CoD

You're right. I believe COD4 was COD at its peak though, and it's the game that got me interested in the franchise.

One positive that I noticed about IW campaign is it seems like they are bringing back some of the massive battle set pieces with lots of npcs like some of the older titles. The recent games have focused more on smaller squads and smaller engagements. Even though its set in the future it looks like a more like a World War game than the recent games if you get my drift.

Honestly I would pay the $80 for cod4 remastered alone, so this doesn't really bother me. But I agree with the people above, they will use Cod4r to pull in preorders and milk it as long as possible until they eventually release it in the ps/xbl store.

I could honestly see them releasing the rest of the cod4 maps as paid dlc when they realize 90% of the player base is playing it and completely ignoring IW.

Why wouldn't they? Why wouldn't ANY gaming company do this?

calm down. no one is saying they won't/shouldn't, it's just that it's not surprising to anyone with how far down the micro-transaction path COD has gone lately.

Cool. I didn't bash it. I could if you want...

I can see this. Basically treat it like many companies do DLC. Then later release it as a stand alone.

People seem genuinely surprised that a company would try to make money. Like they owe it to the fans who have had to put up with all of this shite.

No you, necessarily, before we go there.

They don't owe us shite, but we feel as if they do with how the fans of the earlier COD's have essentially been ignored the last 3 revisions. But no, no company is going to give away anything.

Unfortunately, fans of the earlier cod's is not where the money lies. Just the hard truth. Remasters like this is all we have left.

A remaster is all we really need. Want...want is probably the better word.

Yep. Gamers in general want instant gratification and no game gets the playtime over years and years that they used to. So we all keep pushing for the next best title. The devs know this and just crank out something once per year that is set another 25 years further into the future. The further into the future they go, the more creative with gadgets, guns, abilities, camos, etc they can get. And to them, that means more micro-transactions and potential DLC. They can't go from AW & BO3 with all it's ridiculous endless content of gadgets, weapons, camos, skins, and abilities to a past time period where there would be less content. You have to think to, they are going down a path of no return and know they are.
