Mass Effect is my all time favorite series. I fully believe that I will lose long tracks of time to Andromeda when it finally gets here (Holiday 2016 - really?). I fully believe I will love it as much as I do the original trilogy. I have faith in BioWare.
But all that said, I am not crazy about them abandoning the Milky Way already. The lore in the original trilogy said that a vast majority of the Milky Way had not been explored/mapped at the time those games take place. And without the relays, there is no traveling between star systems, never mind crossing dark space between galaxies. Gonna need to be some mighty fine hand waving by the writers to explain how the hell we get to Andromeda.

I THINK they said at some point that there are relays that point somewhere outside the galaxy but no one has ever returned or had the balls to attempt the jump that far.
Not sure if that's true though.

I'm not sure that I'm understanding what's going on here. A new "galaxy" to discover? Ummmmm...we explored shitloads of galaxies in the original trilogy. Is this a new UNIVERSE? In the trailer they recycled Reaper sound effects -- perhaps a new universe could account for there still being a Reaper presence when, depending upon whatever ending they decide is canon, the Reapers could have possibly been eradicated.
I just don't know. I'll play it regardless, but, you know, whatever, I guess.

The original trilogy was set entirely in the milky way. We explored different systems within the galaxy, but never left the galaxy

That trailer didn't do much for me, most don't. I expect it to get pushed back to early 2017. Looks like I'll be buying a PS4 in late 2016 though.
