I think you'd enjoy it. Lots of appeal and I'm really enjoying it. Got my Paladin up to 37 last night.

You can make solid money off of carpentry. Carpenter is really easy to level up too. A really nice leve at 35 and one at 45 make getting to 50 a breeze. Not so much for botany. Was a bitch leveling, and that was with turning in just about every quest I could as a botanist. It does make things easier and more profitable for carpenters though.

Well I figured botany would help out with carpenter, which it does, but just the 6 levels I got with it tonight was a chore. I'll definitely get in to carpentry.

What do you want to do? Scholar apparently is a not normal healing class. If you want to be healer with some more traditional rules and roles, then go WHM.
Best thing is that you'll be able to do both if you want.

scholar gives you a free summoner as well. have to consider that.
finally PUG'd Ifrit HM weapons for my bard and summoner. not an experience i want to do again but my dragoon got pretty high fate grinding while in queue. speaking of waiting in queue, people would leave before even pulling if we didnt have a summoner/black mage for the aoe limit break. wasted hours of my because of that BS.
