if i squint hard enough, and look between all the words, numbers, action bars, widgets, and symbols, i can actually see a few characters doing stuff and a dungeon boss.

perhaps i have an aversion to such UIs from playing a WoW raid healer and "whack a mole" (healing status bars) for so long.

you appear to be a hunter.. do you really need all of that on the screen at once? A legit queston as i am unfamiliar with ff14 dungeon composition and execution, obviously

after our discussions about xiv 2 years ago.. this is the most impressive review I have ever seen, holy cow, if Muppet can say THIS about XIV, it must be doing something right.

I have 1/100 of the real estate dedicated to my UI.. and I'm a TANK for crying out loud.. I'll take a picture when I get home and show you.. I think Mr. Sic is a little bit of a hoarder when it comes to his XIV UI.

Archer, and yes I probably do need it. Well, that class is only 40 right now so I'll have a few more action skills to learn, plus what I have with my job, Bard. The two on the left hand side are my shared actions, which I could probably turn the one off for now (honestly don't see myself using them both up). So whatever class I'm running, those actions will be there. All the other stuff is helpful as well, mob list with hate meter, which if you are DPS'ing, it's wise to pay attention to.

I don't know. I'm so used to it that it doesn't bother me. I see the action just fine. You can customize the crap out of it, down to bare bones if you wanted to.

perhaps i am being unfair. the game is new and he wants every (and i mean EVERY) available action at his disposal to learn what works when and where and why. fair enough

from your post though, one could conclude the UI is customizable. Which is a good thing.

It isn't that bad. Jeez.

I keep looking at it and other than maybe losing a bar or two, there isn't much that I don't think I need.

Well, my mount and minion actions aren't "needed" in the dungeons at all, but since they are shared, they are up automatically and it doesn't really get in the way. But when I'm doing end game stuff, I'll need all of those actions in the bottom bars.

I wonder if I can tweak what the mob's are displaying over their head.

So Greg has a 50 Warrior, does he ever have to tank, or does he prefer to heal?

I also need to figure out which job I'm going to level to 50 after Warrior, I was having a blast with MRD last night, too bad Overpower was extremely OP and I couldn't use it if we wanted to let Darv tank.

We were wondering why you chose MRD since Darv was tanking anyways. Made things tricky, and he's still trying to learn the role.

Lect tanked for my first two dungeons and healed with CNJ or SMN when Darv was tanking.

because all of my other damage dealing jobs are level 50, and I WANT to level my MRD, and I have nothing else to bring to a level 15 dungeon.

THAT is why I chose MRD

Well you should have been more careful

There were a few times on TS where we were explaining to Darv what to target next when "ANDI'S AGGRO'D EVERYTHING".

I would probably have even more to say about the game if I'd been able to log on since Friday morning. I've been itching to build a Bard.

Squatting is the answer. It's kind of crappy, but really the only way you'll get to play, unless you want to fight the log in screen for an hour (Darv last night). It will be off today because of maintenance, but I typically log on in the morning before work and have it waiting for me when I get home.

I ended up downloading a mirroring program for my phone and desktop - and now I mirror my computer and bring my controller with me throughout the house and keep clicking the A button until I finally get signed in.
