HDMI in ports aren't standard yet? My laptop has one, but it's only 6 months old...

He was saying that there are only hdmi OUT on most laptops. Very rare (if at all) are there laptops with hdmi in straight out the box without tweaks.

Best bet is to buy a new TV. You'll be spending money to get a converter (not very cheap) so you might as well get a new tv

I just wasn't sure if it was standard yet. This was my first laptop, and came standard with it.. but it is an Alienware and pretty pricey.

Worth. Every. Penny.

You can call it overpriced all you want, I was not dealing with the hassle of building my own laptop and this thing has been nothing short of amazing. Not having to buy a new one in 2 years because it's obsolete is nice too.

Negative. I work with a guy that builds computers on the side. Best friend pulled the specs on thebestgaming Alienware desktop at the time and gave the specs to him. He built it for half price. You paid twice as much for the name

Much cheaper and easier to build. And not everyone can build it themselves, so yes, I'm paying for a service. For someone else to build my laptop for me. It's still worth it.

I have bad news for you. It's already obsolete.

Yep, the Alienware 17" and Sagers are the only ones with HDMI-in. My Asus has it, but the port is internal and would require some doctoring. Not going to do that to a new laptop

Not really. I still browse the specs of new ones. Also, I consider obsolete when there is a program or game it can't run at full potential. Doesn't exist yet.

You can't even quote correctly and tried to spell my name

Poor has nothing to do with it. If you feel better for over paying for something because of the name and are ok with that....then I applaud you. Kudos champ.

Specs of other laptops? Hardware manufacturers don't really make a lot of options for gaming laptops yet. Not a huge market as of now. I promise you the hardware in it is not on par with the latest desktop hardware therefore it's obsolete by those standards.

You can get a good Lenovo with the same specs for probably close to half the price of an Alienware.

Wow, Lenovo won't even give me the option to customize it to match my Alienware. Let's see, processor is low end compared to mine, has half the RAM mine does, smaller screen, Your solid state is only 16 GB, then you have a 1 TB 5400 RPM SATA. Keep trying poor kid.
