I've given a few a try knowing they would be far from perfect but geez some of these are bad. I guess they are just finding way to fund as they go. For as rough as some of these are they charge a pretty penny for them.

I don't touch them, except for the mistake I made buying DayZ standalone. Buying an unfinished game is essentially taking away incentive for the developer to finish it.

I agree with ILikeLSUToo, I avoid beta versions like the plague, too many are just buggy messes that more than likely will never finish and are just cash grabs but developers.

If they give a big discount for the early purchase and I am interested in the game I do it. I agree that a lot of the time they aren't good. I recently purchases early access to The Long Dark and I am glad I did, it's single player survival kinda like Day Z set in the Canadian north (no zombies but wolves.) I have almost 15 hours played and the game isn't even finished yet.

I looked at that one and almost got it. Banished was pretty good but it wasn't very dynamic. Very much a balancing act and a long grind. Plague Inc was a balancing act and a waste of money. I like The Forest but my fricking game keeps erasing. I can only restart so many times.
