The Fate of Atlantis I used to play on my old Mac in the 90s is one of my all-time favs. I haven't played many action games outside of Uncharted and Assassin's Creed (I mainly do sports), but are there any non-Lego ones out there worth a flip or any on the horizon?

Think they came out the same year. Activision was a beast with the 2600.

Are you kidding? Uncharted is one of the best game series of all time. There's a few small annoying things, but on storytelling and intuitiveness, and pure fun, it's tops.

To be fair, you could program 2600 games in like one week.

No. It has nice graphics, likeable characters, and an OK story but that's where the good things stop.

The gameplay is repetitive and boring. The gunfights suck and remind me of the horrible AI in the original Far Cry and the graphics and story were not enough to distract me from those issues.

It's also a little too linear for my taste. Every mission is another obvious climb up this wall and climb up that ledge in these tiny cluster filled environments. Get in cover and then shoot at 8 enemies around the corner. Rinse and repeat. There is nothing interesting and engaging about it and nothing that makes you think or makes you search your entire massive environment around you until you find clues and stuff. In many occasions, when there is a puzzle, Drake will say "there's probably a mechanism I have to turn." 5 seconds later, it will tell me to press up on the d-pad for a hint. The game treats you like an 8-year-old. It's very straight forward and that is boring.

I think a lot of people get distracted by the cut scenes, characters, and graphics like they are watching a movie and don't realize that as a game it falls pretty flat.

It would be much better as a Telltale game like The Walking Dead and A Wolf Among Us IMO.

And how many months (years) and how many people does it take for a mainstream gaming studio to push out a game now?

If you weren't looking for something to criticize me on, you'd realize the number of games these companies released for the Atari isn't as impressive as it first seems considering it was way easier to make games in those days.

What does that have to do with anything?

No doubt about this but to be fair it's all relative meaning they were also programming on computers with less processing power than a Ti-85 calculator to make games for a system with even less power than that. The games were limited but they probably got less done in a day then compared to what one programmer or artist can do now.

It means they didn't do games in a week like your dumbass claim, and what Stout said.

Why did I bother, I will follow my own advice.

When everyone else thinks one thing and you think the other, the problem might just be with you.

I don't know about getting more or less done in a day, but it takes hundreds of people to make a video game now and truckloads of money.

There's nothing wrong with that. I'm just saying that it was much easier to make games which is why these studious were able to pump out as many as they were.

If you think making games is as easy now as it was back then you are a fricking moron.

I don't care what everyone else thinks unlike you who thinks you can use that as some kind of insult. You're picking a fight with me for no reason.

You really have to be a troll. You simply can't be as bitter and stupid as you come off in your posts.

I'm sorry you are amazed that a studio can pump out more than 1-2 games per year when they only have 1-5 guys working on a game at a time.
