Don't hate. I've played every single generation of pokemon and I don't plan on stopping now 
Sucks that I also have to go get a 3ds but I'll deal. Looks like there are other great games I'd buy for it as well

I'm not hating. I'm jealous. I want to play some Pokemon. I haven't played it since the Red, Blue, and Yellow era though. I just don't have the money to spend on it.

I've got Y and it is pretty awesome. The legendary is cooler imo. You get different Mega evolutions in each game, though.

I need to go back and find where Evee is.
I've been using the GTS to get all the starters, Aerodactyl (personal favorite) and Gastly/Alakazam.
Hate that if an asian trades with you the pokemon you get has a name that looks like braille though.

Got all of the original 3 as well as all 3 from X/Y. Also got a few exclusive to each game (I have Y) like Pinsir and Lairon. Got a Skarmory as well and the other fossil pokemon.

Got a Japanese Squirtle.
I do like that they put the little black box at the top that indicates the country of origin. I don't think it does anything, but it is kind of cool knowing that you are connecting with people on an international level. I've gotten pokemon from France and Germany as well.

Caught several today on Route 10.. took about 25-30mins to get 6.
All in the same yellow flowers right before the legendary pokemon stones.

I'm pumped about a Mega Gengar. Always felt like Gengar is highly underrated.

Amazon sort of fckked us on the game guides.
We should have received them Monday, then Amazon said Wednesday.. Amazon didn't recieve to ship out until fckking Friday so not receiving until Monday.

I traded a haunter for another haunter in order to evolve it so that I could use mega gengar. haven't leveled him yet, but he is in the plans (after leveling all the starters, all the eevees, frick I've got a lot of leveling to do...).
As for those questioning the 3DS XL. I knocked it because I thought having a bigger handheld was counter intuitive. A friend offered to buy my 3DS so I took the opportunity to get one of the Special X/Y 3DS XLs. After playing on it I must say I was totally wrong. You lose a little bit of sharpness due to the same resolution on a bigger screen, but it is more than compensated for by the fact that you can see things without having your nose right in the screen.
If you are on the fence and the money isn't a deciding factor, get the XL imo.

So is there anywhere I can get a decent water-type early on? I've just caught Snorlax and I'm trying to keep a balanced team, but I feel like not having a water-type is gonna kill me eventually. I went Fennekin/Bulbasaur for the starters, fwiw. But I'm already getting the feeling I'm going to regret not getting Squirtle instead
