They seem very similar and I know that DayZ had glich problems and seemed to lack support. Is H1Z1 just an better working version of DayZ?

well CURRENTLY there are login issues I am pretty sure are linked to the new anti hack theyre integrating on H1Z1. most of my friends have been crashing on repeat but i was able to login after a few attempts and play all morning. I enjoy it a lot more than dayZ, its cheaper, has a lot more people working on it, and actually has a plan on where the game is headed which looks great. I recommend finding a community to play with for either game so youre not running around by yourself or trying to make a base with just a couple of friends. I haven't been killed by a hacker in a few days either, which was the main thing keeping me from playing the main game. but the best part about h1z1 is battle Royale, which will in the future cost tickets but is free to play now, but still has prizes for top 12. I am up to 12 air drops and 73 event tickets from 0.

Overall, considering h1z1 has only been out about 6 weeks, has already shown vast improvement since launch, and is at worst on par with dayz, i don't think you can go wrong picking it if you have to choose between the two

Better than standalone not better than the mod.

Thanks for the replies, but I meant differences in actual gameplay.

DayZ you just search for pre-made things. You can cook food here and there on DayZ. Whereas on H1Z1, you have the ability to craft most of your things (Bows, Arrows, etc.) The zombies are better in H1Z1 as well

Watch lyrik play BR on twitch. Is that just a mod? Games are relatively short and I wonder what the replayability is like..

Looks sort of okay.

Battle Royale exists on Arma 2 with DayZ mod built into the mod as well, has been for a long time. Arma 3 version as well.

BR is fully integrated into H1Z1. No mods, no nothing. Currently it is free to play* (free to play once you purchase the alpha build). Once the game launches and the game itself becomes F2P, BR will become a server only accessible via tickets. Many are playing BR now in hopes of storing up enough tickets that will carry over into the full game.

Yeah, Gusoline already mentioned that. It does exist in DayZ mod form though. If it's been done, it's probably been done on the mod. People still making some pretty freakin awesome scripts for it.

I'd chose H1Z1 over standalone, but not over the mod, just too much variety and range of different types of servers there.

I'm guessing a server wipe will happen unless they give it to you as a perk for buying early.
