Help me with the name of this video game.

It was on ps2 I believe. It's hard for me to remember exact details but it reminds me of skyrim, you go to different towns or something and defeat people to get bigger and badder swords/clothes/armor. One random part I remember was having to fight ice cats or something like that. Sorry I don't have many more details just seeing if it rings a bell to anyone. Can't for the life of me think of the name of it.

It's an RPG...there was a leveling system...you used swords...fought animals in the wild...you know the one I'm talking about

Lol I don't know anything about skyrim other than its a guy in the same time period that has a sword.
