Just want to give a heads up on what's going on with hard drives these days. The floods in Thailand completely rocked the market. Prices are skyrocketing for disc drives. I'm talking massive increases from online vendors.

This drive used to be $80 a month or so ago to put things in perspective. If you are building or ordering a new PC, just be aware of what is going on. I doubt retail stores like Best Buy will lose their stock of drives but their prices will start to follow suit once they realize the shortage.

The SSD market wasn't hit by the floods but with disc drives prices skyrocketing SSD demand is going up and so are SSD prices albeit not as drastic as disc drives.

Just an FYI.

Hard drive prices are ridiculous now. I'm going to wait for the price to drop to pick up a 2/3 TB drive.

I'm assuming you want it for your OS. 60-64 gb gives you some headroom for updates. It looks like prices for SSDs are up 20% at the moment. Not the ideal SSD imo but it'll do just fine. I wouldn't pay more than $90 for any 60-64 gb SSD since most good drives were around this range on sale before this inflation.

I honestly don't see prices dropping for at least 6 months. It's going to suck...

Microcenter has a 128 gig SSD for $129.99 after rebate ($149.99 prior to the rebate).

That's a damned nice price. Here is a link to the page.

Great price but that drive has a history of failures due to firmware issues. If they fixed those issues, it's a great budget SSD.

I know that playing online it makes a difference with reaction time but with my current rig I have no problems (at least I don't think so.) My question is how big of a difference do you all see compared to a regular HD? I am thinking about upgrading if it's really worth it.

The mechanical keyboard is another thing I am looking at.

You should get a mechanical keyboard as it makes typing/gaming so much better. I'm not totally sold on SSD until the price of it drops by a lot.

Also it will be hard to give up my G series keyboard for the benefits. Are there any mechanical keyboards with similar functions?

My next computer will have a SSD. And that SSD will hold many a GB.

The price better come down in 8 years...

What type of PC games do you play? I have a Steelseries 6gv2 keyboard which is a plain mechanical keyboard, no lights or macro keys.

I can't go more than two years without upgrading. I have 4 desktops, 1 laptop, 1 tablet, and a smart phone.

I will build my next one (I keep saying that but never do.)

You can probably find one with macro keys if that's what you like, I just just use my modifiers(ctrl+alt) that's why I use a plain one.

Macro keys are needed because I usually three box MMOs but for the main keyboard it's not a big deal.

The 6Gv2 is very nice and I used the 40% coupon at Steelseries to get a great deal. The only problem I can find with it has to do with preference, when playing Starcraft 2 it can get hard to press the modifiers and F#/7+ which isn't the keyboards fault.

From the reviews I have read I think you sold me on it. I am going to order it.
