I was able to play a demo of Soul Reaver over a year before it came out (E3 was in Atlanta in 98 for some reason) and everything about it blew me away. The atmosphere and soundtrack hold up and it still has one of the best intros in gaming history.

Edit: Doesn't Kain or Raziel kill the Elder God at the end of Defiance?

No. Kain is able to see him after the Soul Reaver is embued with Raziel's soul. He was purified and brought balance to the Pillars of Nosgoth.

He walked away, threatening the Elder God after their battle, but the Elder God remained alive.

In recent memory... the worst ending for me was probably FFXV - decent game though, and really not in the "good" category, so I'm not sure it matches your criteria

Interesting. I thought the ending was one of FF15's best points. Going into the what had become of the world and all that followed. I realy liked it.

Metal Gear Solid V's ending tied up every loose end of the series.

It makes a whole lot more sense that Snake kills Venom Snake in Outer Heaven and the real Big Boss in Zanzibarland than that Big Boss survives being crushed by Metal Gear and the island exploding.

Worst ending of all time is the "good" ending to Neverwinter Nights 2: The temple collapses and kills all the heroes, including the PC.

If there's one almost universal point MGS fans agree upon regarding MGSV, it's that it left a lot of plot points unanswered...not only within MGSV, but in the overall saga. I could think of 20 questions that were never answered by MGSV quite easily. Maybe some of the questions are not important to more casual players, but they exist. It definitely didn't tie up every loose end by any stretch...at least not to the satisfaction of like-minded fanbois like me

In Metal Gear, you destroy Metal Gear in one room and have the fight with Big Boss in a different room. He's never crushed by Metal Gear. He's presumably buried in the rubble of the base after the explosion and subsequent NATO strike on Outer Heaven. Several people survived that explosion, including Schneider who reappears in Metal Gear 2 as Black Ninja. Sure it's all ridiculous, but if Schneider could survive, so could Big Boss. The Venom retcon doesn't make any more or less sense.

Dragon Age: Inquisition could have had a much better ending.

Did you even play this game? Can you tell us why it is bad?

I mean, I know everyone is entitled to an opinion, but the ending is regarded by a lot of others as one of the best video game endings ever. It is my favorite.

I honestly think he put that end there to ruffle feathers.

The ending to that game was great. And has stuck with me more than any game.

Shadow of Mordor was a very fun game with the nemesis system but I don't think they put any time into the actual story.

Bloody hell. Did you time your saved game just right for this?

That made me ultra sad.

Base game or expansion? One of the expansions continues where you left off.
