Just saw this on the homepage and was pretty surprised because I've never seen anything on there before. If it's on there somewhat regular than that's news to me. Regardless, shows the progression the industry has made.

ESPN and Disney aren't stupid. The average age of gamers is now something like 31 years old, and is only going to go up for for now. Young people are growing up playing games and they likely won't stop playing them as they get older.

The butthurt is coming from the older generation that still has that deep rooted nerds vs jocks mentality. The same ones that freak out over kids before marriage and are still shocked at the sight of a gay person.

Ah I follow you now. You aren't wrong but this is like IGN posting write ups about the NBA finals on the front page.

Not really. Competitive video gaming is getting bigger by the day, and especially league- to the point the US is providing sports VISA's for international players.

The amount of money being made off of twitch streams to show these matches in getting to be unreal. It's just a matter of time before someone (re: ESPN) finds a way to make even more money off of this.

Nice, the League finals should be on ESPN every year really, ratings would be higher than 90% of what is on there now. At least ESPN2.

Especially when the League finals last year which are online only, outdrew the NBA and MLB finals.

Some people still don't understand how gigantic it is.

Exactly, you don't have to be an athlete to be on ESPN. They cover women's basketball.
