For a game I liked, it's Beyond Two Souls. It got somewhat decent reviews but is basically reviled among gamers. What are your guilty pleasures?

If I'm going way way back, I played ET on the Atari and liked it. But I was like nine years old and stupid. I guess I'm just old and stupid now

For games I hated that others seem to love universally, Bioshock Infinite and Halo. I think this is mainly because I don't like FPS games.

(Sorry if this an old topic, but another thread piqued my curiosity)

Super Mario Sunshine has caught a lot of shite from people but it's still my favorite 3D Mario game.

Whoa. This just got ludicrous.

Disliked: Earthbound. Required grinding is a design flaw, imo, and I don't see how you progress to the end of this game without doing that. If the combat was more engaging I probably wouldn't care as much but the game's quirky sense of humor isn't enough for me.

Liked: Mario Kart Double Dash. I think it's the best Mario Kart there is. I love getting to combine and switch drivers mid-race and it's fun playing co-op in the same kart with another person. I wish that mechanic was in all future Mario Karts.

Loved Arkham Knight. The story was great and the combat was polished to perfection. Plus, there was a ton of side quests. Even the batmobile wasn't as bad as people made it seem.

Gotta say, I don't think I've heard anyone say that. Fair enough.

I didn't hate ME2, but I really liked ME1 and thought it was a better game. ME1 was so close to being amazing, but they over tweaked and over simplified ME2.

Also, I really like super Mario bros 2, more than many of the others, but I think that it's because it's unique. Being the one outlier makes it interesting. Plus, I love the different characters and how you "fall in" to start the game

Only 2 games I like a lot get hate, Zelda 2 and destiny. Even those have plenty of fans too.

There are plenty of games I didn't like that people love though. Uncharted and majoras mask come to mind.

Good call on Zelda 2. I loved it and gamers seemed to hate it because of the side scrolling parts.

I definitely agree with this. ME1 was exactly what I wanted and I mostly enjoyed the Mako planet exploration stuff. ME2 felt over-simplified.

On NES I love Top Gun, Bible Adventures, King of Kings, Zelda 2, Mega Man 1, Mario Bros (original arcade style game), and Pinball

On the other side I haven't liked an FPS since Duke Nukem, Doom and Goldeneye. I tried with Halo and COD but I was so far behind the curve that I've pretty much given up on modern FPS's. Also I really want to like the point and click story based games. I've tried Wolf Among Us, Walking Dead, Back to the Future, Minecraft Story Mode. I don't hate it, but none of them I had any desire to play past the first session. I'm not getting whatever it is that makes them so great. Just totally boring and monotonous to me

I think this was the universal sentiment if you like RPGs. 3 was a step in the right direction gameplay wise, but still not quite there, glaring story issues aside. The inventory in the first one was the standard for that series.

FFVII is a good game. I own 4 or 5 versions or it. But it's not the GOAT or anything and there are several peers that are just simply better.

FFVII is the only FF I've ever played. It was pretty good, but I've never been into Anime (to the chagrin of my daughter) so I've avoided every other FF game. I have no idea what the series is about.

Calling a game the GOAT is tough because of how it was when it came out and how it is now. I don't think FF7 has aged well, but at it's time it redefined the RPG scene bringing a huge new fanbase. I don't think you can deny FF7 as being one of the most important games to the gaming franchise.

I feel like the game doesn't reward you as much for exploring. One reason plus a little harder combat turned ppl off to that sequel.

Dragon Age is another game I didn't like. Even tried II and found both boring although everyone seems to fap to them.

I really like most Assassin's Creed games too, even though they seem to get lampooned (except for AC:II). I finished Unity and everyone hated that game, not that I blame them. It is certainly a notch below other titles.

I like Far Cry 4 far better than FC3. I thought The Witcher (the first one) sucked. Metal Gear Solid V makes me weep and is the worst of the series. Planescape Torment sucked. I like the NES version of Metal Gear far more than the original MSX2 version. I loved Super Mario Bros 2. I like Rise of Nations more than Age of Empires.

Alright, I'll stop there. I'll get enough downvotes as it is.
