What happened to this game? I was pretty good the last couple of years. I'm below average at this point. Anybody got any tips for an xbox gamer.

I have a friend who is an exchange student from Spain. I thought I was pretty decent until he played me.

Seems like build-up play is 10x more important this year. You won't be able to streak down the field and cross it 15 feet from goal every possession.
Get possession, pass the ball up the pitch, and look for a good opportunity. If you try to just get the ball to your forwards as quickly as possible then have them make a run up the pitch you will struggle. Don't be afraid to pass back to your mids and backs if the play isn't there either. Get the ball back, let the opposition come to you, then start pressing forward again.

It is tough to learn, especially if you've developed a strategy over the previous games.

Looking forward to playing FIFA after the Holidays. Looks great from the gameplay reviews with a lot of nice, new touches.

Its pretty nice. I got 13 for 360 and PC and it was HORRIBLE on PC. This year I got both again (PC was a gift) and PC blows it away. I thought the interface and menus on 360 were too clunky and disorganized. It took too long to switch between activities. On PC it is as smooth as silk, the gameplay is fantastic, and the graphics are beautiful. Plus you can get Moddingway Mod on PC which adds tons of little features.

This. Pace is no longer the most important thing. A strong forward with a good shot is deadly if you have the right style of play. You just have to play the game as it's played.
Also, the changes to shooting and the physics tweaks have changed how the game plays a bit. It takes some getting used to, but I enjoy FIFA a lot more now that it isn't just a constant sprintfest.

I only play online with the USMNT. Otherwise, it's not a challenge when you're a team of top-tier league superstars. My Ultimate Team is boring now that I have a bunch of superstars. Falcao's riding bench because I just don't gain enough from the chemistry losses.
So, now I'm just building a Premier League super squad. If anyone has the PC version, I'd love a good challenge.

Thanks for the insight fellows. I had more of a counter attack style, but my defense is terrible, so I end up out of position and scrambling at the goal mostly. I let in so many headers on corners it's ridiculous. One of my biggest weaKnesses is that I'm weak on the ball and lose it too quickly. I'm improving but it's rough taking a 1-0 loss on a bs header. My new strategy is starting to take form, so hopefully I can perfect.

Make use of the new player momentum changes

This game has become scripted as frick. Skill really doesn't matter as much as it used to.

i feel like the game is rigged sometime in career mode. Im playing in the capital one cup score two goals vs a club a division above and get subbed off at half. Ive also been subbed of twice after scoring a hatrick

Yeah. Its pretty is to tell when the computer wants your team to win or it doesnt. I.e. pass completed, you win your jostles vs man city but don't do it against a bottom of the table team

Dont you love it when a CPU CB can chase down a speedster like Aubameyang?
