I like the standards - Centipede, Missile Command, Asteroids, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Mario Bros

I downloaded MAME with 4000 ROMs, looking for suggestions to sort it out

Good luck, I have the project hyperspin files on my MAME cabinet and I have the same issue figuring out what to play. So many games, so little time.

There was a shooting game I really liked called Crossbow I think. You shot stuff with a crossbow. Time Pilot was another favorite. It was similar to Asteroids. I remember some old Star Wars game that was basically just squares and dots but it was fun.

None of those old games could top TMNT though.

This and Shinobi (Oh how I miss the old Sicily's Pizza). So many quarters spent on those two games alone. Pops would be pissed if he knew how much of my weekly allowance was spent towards arcade games, comic books and sports cards.

Then again, I think he knew anyways considering how many comics and cards I had amassed in my youth and because of how my neighborhood friends would come over on Saturday mornings and we'd barter and trade cards for hours working out deals after we watched our Saturday morning TNMT cartoons on VHS.

Oh, the good old days of playing hide and go seek throughout the neighborhood where hiding in someones backyard or carport wouldn't get you shot and instead the owner would help you out by deflecting your pursuers with lies. Riding bikes up to the Broadmoor Flea Market and perusing the comic book and sports card vendors when you weren't supposed to cross Goodwood Blvd. Oh, I'm sorry, I must have missed the street sign

Dragon's Lair

Spent a fortune at K & B on these two.

Was that the one where a group of warriors would walk across the screen, and you had to shoot the bad guys to protect them? If so, I loved that game.

ETA: That's it

Metal Slug is a classic everyone who enjoys Contra-style games should play.

And if you like beat-em-ups, I suggest The Punisher. I never played it in the arcade but it holds up surprisingly well.

Yes, that's one thing that's hard, if not impossible, to recreate.

Speaking of gun games, I remember liking "Lucky and Wild" as a kid.

It was a driving game AND a gun game. Had a ton of fun playing this with my brother.

Holy Crap. Mega Man Power Battle

ETA: I can play with an NES controller. Maybe the one situation where emulation is better
