So i had tamriel unlimited previously and played it for a bit. I had a magika sorc and it felt very repetitive combat wise as the best skill i found was soul siphon and i just did that over and over so it got boring and i also kinda got overwhelmed with everything in the game. its massive. So with morrowind coming out i feel the need to play it again as i played oblivion and skyrim.

So i have a couple questions
1) should i buy the gold edition or the tamriel unlimited? Looking on ebay gold it about 25 and tamriel is 12. Is it ok to buy a used game? i cant remember if there was a one time code to play it or what.

2) Im not sure which edition of morrowind i should buy, not sure the pets are worth the extra money so thinking the standard edition pre order since it comes with discovery pack or the digital collectors pack since ill have the game already.

3) what builds should i lean towards as far as effectiveness? I used to play a khajit with a bow in skyrim and loved it but i also love to use spells and stuff. I usually not a hack and slash type but i want to progress and not get stuck or bored like last time.

Thanks and sorry for the long post!

I picked up the Gold edition last night (free horse, yay!) and have had a blast with my elf assassin just sniping the hell out of things with my bow.

The only question I have thus far is how to tell what my overall level is. I can find my skill levels easily enough (K on the keyboard) but nary a clue as to my overall level (so I can see when I get my next skill point).

I got the Imperial Edition and Plus when the game dropped. I've played some here and there since the beginning. So much smoother now. My Dragon Knight stamina build and Sorcerer magica build characters do the most damage imo. The new class coming will likely be the best. I'll just start a new and see where it goes with the new class with all of my champion points

What role are you playing? (DPS, tank, or heals)

Magicka Sorcerors are one of, if not the, best damage dealer in the game at the moment.

DPS was the goal. This was over a year ago. I always preferred spells over just slash but it never felt right.

I'm not sure exactly what has changed but I know most guides from pre-homestead update are obsolete. And now that Morrowind is out the current guides will need updated.

For a magicka sorcerer I'd use a destruction staff and a restoration staff (or just 2 destr staves).

Typical fight is dropping your damage over time AOE spells first. Wall of elements from the destr staff tree and lightning splash from the Storm Calling class tree.

Then use Daedric Curse and spam Force Pulse until Crystal Fragments lights up which means it is now instant cast, costs half magicka, and does 10% more damage.

Use Mage's wrath when they get to 20% health.

There are also buffs like Surge and Boundless Storm, wards, Bound Armor and debuffs like Weakness to Elements to use so you stay pretty busy.

Then there's "weaving" which involves using a skill and then immediately blocking or using a light attack to cancel the animation to squeeze out a few more DPS.

I went high elf, got the gold edition, Im confused on which skills to go with but just kinda winging it. only level 5. im not sure on skil rotation or anything like that. I drop my AOE skill (which one?) then like mages fury or something or crystal frags? i know it will be a while before i get there, like i said im only level 5 but kinda overwhelmed at which skills to morph and which ones to use. I dont even know how to get the 2nd bar and switch to it lol
