Any Earthbound players on here, past/present/future? I'm probably about 3/4 of the way through myself. Never thought this game would be my cup of tea, but boy was I wrong.

I recently started the series and actually played Mother 1 on the NES first, before Earthbound (which is Mother 2). Mother 1 never came out in the US, but there are fan translations all over the intrawebs. This series has quite the huge following that I was unaware of. There's even a fanmade Mother 4 in the works and it's a non-profit deal.

Yep. Love that game.

I still have the original box and strategy guide that it came with back in the day.

Once you beat it you can go back and talk to every single NPC in the game and as far as I remember they all have something to say to you.

Dang! The original game is worth some $$$ these days, nice! I'm close, so I'm definitely going to need to do that.

Have you played mother 1 or 3 as well?

That final battle though................wtf

One of the creepiest scenes in video game history.

So awesome.

So happy Nintendo released this great game on the Eshop. The first few towns are tough if you don't grind some levels first but I usually do that with any RPG I start playing.

Probably my favorite game of all time. I play it once every couple of years. I don't think I could ever sell it!

My sister and I played the hell out of Earthbound. Unfortunately my SNES and Earthbound burned up in a forest fire in 2011.

Dude I loved Earthbound on SNES. It really was a great game. I was in RPG mode back then. Definitely one of my more memorable ones.

I remember I was like waaaaahh what yall know about that?! When Ness popped up on the first super smash brothers.

Loved the game back in the day, the squishing sound it made when you approached an enemy that was weaker than you was always funny

About to pick back up right now...I'm currently dealing with Ness on level 58. I'm definitely enjoying this ride!

Earthbound goes from being really lighthearted to being really twisted in a hurry, and that's one of the best things about it. Great story.

It's my favorite snes rpg along with Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG.

There's a lot of people that don't know this. The game is on the Wii U Virtual Console, and you should get it, yesterday.

I've played a little of both but I never finished them. For whatever reason I have a hard time getting into games that I'm playing via emulator. Maybe if I got some USB controllers that resembled NES and SNES game pads I could do it but I'm not sure.

Play Earthbound Zero next, then Mother 3. Mother 3 is a great game too, but very depressing.

I might give it a try, since you're enjoying it without the nostalgia factor. I could never get into it after the SNES era had long passed.
