So I've never once played Destiny. I don't really have a reason why, but just never really felt like playing it and my old roommate got bored of its repetitiveness pretty quick. However, that was before any of the DLC's came out.

I know Bungie is releasing the collector's edition later this year and now I'm somewhat intrigued to make the purchase. But before I do, I want to know that if I do, will it even be fun for me jumping in this late? Does me picking the game up more than a year later just make it to where I won't be able to find anyone to play with? Or would that even be an issue?

The new expansion has greatly improved the game. I highly recommend pre-ordering whatever the bundle that will be that will include everything up to now and the Taken King coming out in September.

And yes, you'll be fine. It doesn't take long to level up. And nah, it's not hard at all to find people to play with. I highly recommend downloading the Destiny companion app. You can do a lot with your character from your phone and it has built in forums you can check for people to play with or general game topics.

No, I think Bungie had this specific type of player in mind with the Legendary Edition. They've talked about how they want to have new players jump right in and not miss a beat with the new xpac. You should be good to go.

Same here..It seemed like the first hour was a movie and I hate that about newer games..

Also, if you're on XBone, the demo is around 10 hours...Worth a shot before you buy

It's hard to get into late. I picked it up before the 2nd xpac and at level 20 it was impossible to find a fire team to complete any of the strikes. The game was quite dead outside of 30+ content

This is the wrong way to go about it. Don't try to do anything you're not the appropriate level for. No one wants to carry dead weight through.

After doing the main story, Crota's End story, and the Wolves, story you should easily be up to lvl 30. At that point the only thing you couldn't handle are the higher level Prison of Elders.

And you couldn't be more wrong about

At 26-30 you can still easily do all the story, the Vault of Glass Raid, strike playlists, crucible, and the first Prison of Elders. Not to mention pretty much everything in Crucible takes out the leveling advantage. The only parts of the game you have to be higher than 30 are the Crota raid and higher POE's.

I got it for Father's Day and am at level 12 with my Hunter. I did make the mistake of joining a couple crucible matches when I was level 8-11 but I was trying to get an achievement before I realized I should have just waited until level 20. Because outside a handful of kills with God Gun and assists I was barely a speed bump for the 20+ crowd.

That's a huge difference especially considering I didn't even have a heavy weapon at the time. I would also suspect armor is a huge difference as well. I could sneak up on someone and shoot them in the head 10 times only for them to turn and fire once to kill me.

Me either and I'm fairly new to it. Of course I have level 34 family to pull my dead weight when I wanna go big lol. I've gotten to 24 fairly quickly, starting as a Hunter. I'm pleasantly pleased.
