Alright so I'm a long time XBOX 360 guy and honestly the PS4 and XBONE do not excite me yet. I kind of want to wait and see what happens, not to mention I can play a lot of the same games on my 360 with friends for the time being.

That said, something about the WiiU intrigues me. Thoughts from people who have it?

It will be collecting dust one month after you buy it.

Jut don't get a Wii U with some expectation of equating it to an XBox or PS.

It's a different system with different games.

It has some really stellar games though, so there's that. But yeah if you like Mario, Mario games, and/or Zelda, there really is no other console to get.

But that is selling it short:
Wonderful 101
Lego City Undercover
Rayman
Pikmin

And for the third parties that do bring games to the system, those are good as well: AC IV, Injustice etc.

There's a chance, a growing one at this point, that the Wii U starts getting ports/makes of PS3 and Xbox360 games. I think devs are waiting for the Christmas holiday to see what happens. Sales have been on the rise. There's a new marketing push, and finally some first party console sellers coming with Super Mario 3D World this week.

It's a recipe for Gamecube-like success, and if it can get those ports for the next 3 years or so, that's a successful system. If not, then it will probably still still Gamecube numbers, maybe slightly less but have a First-Party heavy catalog.

How is the online community/features?

Also what games currently out (1st and 3rd Party) do y'all recommend?

If they would add just a few more titles besides Mario, Zelda and Metriod I would purchase.

They really need to do a Pokemon console game. It would work really well with the touch pad.

If all you do is online games, then you probably won't like it. If online is just a feature/bonus/piece of the puzzle (and not the whole puzzle). It''s great.

Interacting with friends is easy. There's a Twitter-like client embedded into most games and the community. The online browser is solid. And when games have online, it works well.

Rayman Legends
Rayman Legends
Rayman Legends

It was made for the Wii U and is probably one of the best platformers ever.

New Super Mario Bros.
Pikmin 3
Lego City Undercover
Wonderfol 101
Nintendoland is an excellent local multiplayer game
Darksiders 2 and/or AC IV for action games.
CoD: Ghost for FPS
Wii Sports Club now has a great online community
Wind Waker, if you've never played it

And there are plenty of very solid indie games on the eShop.

Your third party ports are good, sometimes better than the competitors.
