they are expensive and take forever to build/upgrade

Dunno I am in a clan that is ranked like 530 at moment... It is nice having a CC with nothing but lvl 6 archers

I would guess only 20% of the clan is at TH8. The TH8 to TH9 jump takes forever, I've been at TH8 for months now.

i could have been at TH8 a while back, but im COMPLETELY upgrading everything before i do it (except walls)

The clan castle, research center, spell factory and 50 wall upgrade is what made me jump to TH8 early.
I didn't really see a raiding difference btw TH7 and TH8.

Just on who you raid really... the only different is raiding TH lvl 7/8 and the 10% loot you see less now....
I've had issues raiding gold/elixir now since very few bases have a lot of both (at least ones I can raid effectively) and the minion reduction sucks

I upgraded my TH every chance I had and now I wish I didn't... because it took me awhile (and IRL money) to catch up
Lucky I haven't spent any in a couple months and now I have just farmed. Although farming has taken a hit now. I am in Gold League I and getting the 8500 bonus in elixir/gold so I can attack a bit lower bases (60-70k) knowing I will make it up with bonus.
