Ive played 3 games and had china spawn next to me all 3 times. Each time by turn 50 they have declared war against me. On top of other civs being wiped off the face of the earth before I have a chance to discover them, seems like most are war happy.

Don't complain about a China spawn. I've had Gorga as my nearest AI in both campaigns so far. Gorga hates all civs who have never been to war, and she refuses to do anything but a white peace, so you are guaranteed an early war to the death.
ETA: remember the new Cassus Belli system. If you don't want everyone to hate you, you have to fabricate a reason for war. Warmongering penalty WILL frick your diplomacy options. My advice would be to let the AI declare on you in the early game and then refuse peace until you've achieved whatever goals you had in mind. You can then go into empire building mode until you research the civics required for fabricating certain CBs.

Pyramids can be useful.

I've found the barbarians more difficult to deal with in 6 than 5 because of the whole builders only having 3 charges.

China, Rome, Egypt, and Kongo are my favorite civs so far.

They're going to be my next one. I haven't gone after a religious victory yet because it seems like it's too easy to get into a religious stalemate with other civs.

BTW, there was a windows defender update on 10 that causes issues for Civ 6. Can be solved by excluding the steam folder from defender

Just finished my first game.

Gilgamesh
Standard time
Continents - Standard size
Prince difficulty

Won culture victory when I was about 8 turns from a science victory. I was going hard for science so my spies didn't have much tech to steal. I ended up stealing great works and that's what put me over the top. Brazil was to my north and CONSTANTLY denounced me because I had more great people.

Ended up forging friendships with Russia (until they busted me stealing works like 3 times), England (until they caught me sabotaging their space race), and Scythia. Rome and Norway were badgering me all game for either not having enough cities/land or a big enough navy.

It took a bit to get used to the new mechanics. Barbarians are a BITCH at the start. In my first game I played as America for about 80 turns. Rome DoWed me within 20 turns. I held him off and he gave a ton to make peace even though I feel like he could have easily run me over. The AI needs some tweaking but overall I'm extremely pleased with it so far.

I'm running scythia, Rome is my neighbor and got entirely too close to my borders so I declared war and took one of his cities. While that was going on Greece snuck up and declared war on me so I quickly accepted peace with Rome and pushed back Greece and some lingering barbarians. After a while I finished off Rome so every other Civ hates my guts.

Played 2 games already.

First game as USA won a culture victory in 1820 on a large map on Prince

Second game as Aztec won a domination victory (although I almost had a religious victory) in the 1700s on King on a standard map.

This game is way better than Civ V was at launch. Hell, it is better than CIV V with all the expansions imo. I will probably take a rest for a few weeks as I just bought Battlefield 1.

Mac version dropped about two hours ago. My potato 2.5 i5 duo and Intel HD 4000 are rocking this baby with no problem on medium. Granted I'm only like 50 turns in, but this is quite promising. I have to say though, even on medium these graphics are just ugly. The gameplay is superb though so I'm still happy.

Made it to about turn 70 with the Germans, then got pounded by the Romans. Might try Aztecs next, starting to learn more about playing this. Learning curve is a bit steep, having never played a Civ game before. It's a shite ton of fun though

My advice is not to be a warmonger. You need friends until you are at a point where you are the superpower. Maybe eat one of your neighbors early (especially if Gorgo or Scythia are one of your other neighbors as they love someone who wins a war; but do not go to war if USA is on your continent [unless against them] as they will hate you for the entire game)
