This is a bucket list game of mine that I'm finally playing through via Wii Virtual Console.

Pretty fantastic game thus far. I like the simplistic charm of JRPGs in the NES and SNES eras.

I've beaten a couple PS3 JRPGs having only understood about 20% of the combat and character progression systems of those games.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Roaad but it'll be interesting to hear the perspective of someone new to it that doesn't have that nostalgia factor.

I think it's just such a great game man.

Not only is it one of the GOAT JRPGs, it's a good game to introduce to people who say they aren't into JRPGs.

-Graphics are awesome and still hold up
-Amazing music
-Pretty easy to just play through, no sudden spikes
-Time travel plot that doesn't feel like it was written in a community college technical writing class.

I somehow did not play it until a few years ago and it is my favorite RPG. I think it holds up well in every way.

Traveled back to the Middle Ages for the second time. Killed the skeleton monster on the bridge.

This game deserves every bit of praise it receives. It's been years since I have played it, but I'll still hum tunes from it. I love it

Can't just drop it after the first time you beat it, I think there are over 10 endings.

If you enjoy Chrono Trigger, you should look into I Am Setsuna (PC and PS4). It's modeled a lot after CT and a throwback to old school JRPGs.

After reading this thread and downloaded Chrono Trigger DS on my phone emulator; I came across this in my research and looked it up.. Thinking bout giving it a purchase; only $40 I think and seems decent from the reviews I've read.

Coming from someone who has never played it before, what would be the ideal console or handheld to purchase it for?
