i've been playing this game for about 2 weeks now and i only have 15 shards. What is the best way to get them? I can't beat anymore dungeons as my troops are too weak.

replay the ones you can beat with only your heroes.
your heroes will get valuable experience and you will get shards.

at 1-2 yea, but now with the blue portal, shards are raining from the celing.
i try to run C on the blue portal 3-4 times a day.
i beat it every time (unless i get screwed with an out of reach loner) and that is 20shards a pop.

there is a blue portal in the top left edge of the map...

yea, it puts your base defense to the test. it sends 5 waves of enemies at your base and is a freakin goldmine for xp and shards.
