Can't build a comparable PC for the price of an Xbox One X

For the moment, Microsoft’s created a machine that the DIY PC crowd can’t currently match—not when you try to copy both feature set and the cost at the same time, at least. That might be a first, given how often PC gamers tout the benefits that console fans miss out on.

Who's laughing now???? We have 4K!

Why would anyone want to build a 30 fps machine though?
I wonder what the margins are on the One X?

They said it's break even, I still don't get it considering the CPU though.
Also so far most of the big hitters other than Forza have been proven not to be native 4K similar to the Pro. Still a more powerful machine just not quite matching up to the original claims being thrown around.

You now have the most powerful console with nothing new to play on it, congratulations. It's not as if third party developers will be making games for the X. They go where the money is and that's the PS4 and Xbox One. The Pro and X are afterthoughts for developers.

Not reading that link, but I could build a better performing PC for less than the new xbox

The only reason this might be true at this point in time is that GPUs are expensive due to Bitcoin mining demand.

So for $800 I get something that does what a $500 console does and does what a PC does?
Seems like a bargain considering most people probably spent more than $300 for their POS laptop and are still going to turn around and shell out $500 on the One X.

but the xbox one x isn't on sale currently. so "for the moment" this mythical console doesn't actually exist.

Not to mention it's more than a gaming console plenty of people will use it to stream 4k movies and tv which is already available. Now if pandora would get off their asses and get 4k music it would be that much better.

this is pretty nice for potential XBOX owners:

running ESO at 4k on a console would be quite impressive.
edit: that's actually amazing if true.

We had the chance to speak with Game Director Matt Firor at E3 2017 and ask him whether the Xbox One X was powerful enough to run Elder Scrolls Online at 4K@60FPS. The team is still making tweaks at this point, but he replied that it’s most likely going to run at 4K@30FPS while also getting those additional graphics effects that PS4 Pro only enables when running at 1080P resolution.

it's actually one of the reasons I'm tempted to buy one in the future
I'll hook it up to a monitor in my office and just use it as my computer for the most part

Not really.
But we are the idiots shelling out stupid amounts of cash yearly.

I mean who would be sour at this? It is such a good thing. We can have better ports and higher res textures on the PC.
Also not the whole picture.
