For those that do not know by now. PewDiePie said in a video he would be deleting his Youtube account if it surpassed 50mil subscribers:

He and others are bitching cause youtube is promoting actual videos rather than their over produced bull shite. I would love it if they all left. They turned youtube into some vlogging, let me give everyone my opinion on everything, sing a song to get famous bullshite. Youtube was made to share awesome natural videos... frick him and people like him. Good riddance.

No one forces you to watch it. I have never seen a full video of his. Watched part of one once just out of curiosity.

Pewdiepie was pretty cool to watch for awhile, i really enjoyed his videos, especially when he played games. Now it's react to a video, vlog, play a stupid 5 minute game with jacksepticeye and the others, make a video talking about another YouTuber, and so on. He became famous bc he played games, his fans are always begging him to get back to playing games, but he just doesn't care anymore.
Bottoms line is, YouTube has almost completely died. It's all drama. If you're not in the drama, you're not a "popular youtuber" so now they're all jumping on board together.

It's hard to "make it" on Youtube, but once you do, you're basically on cruise control at that point and you can do whatever the hell you want and just print money. And I think that's where PewDiePie is at.

He really doesn't need the money. Other YouTubers respect him too. Apparently he is really nice and smart. He's probably tired of the act.

Depends how you define make it. Very few people are making millions of dollars off youtube but if you have more reasonable goals, say $50-$70k a year maybe, its possible to be successful. You just have to find a niche market that regular tv doesn't serve. For pewdiepie and others, its retarded teenagers. Someone like James Rolfe for example found his niche in the 30 something year old, retro gaming, nostalgia, etc enthusiasts and makes a fulltime living from his videos. Plus if you're popular enough you can sell merch and do convention appearances for extra income.
