Borderlands2 character selection

Ok my buddy and me are bout to start this epicness. I know he will select Axton. He selected the soldier in the original. I played with the hunter so I was thinking Zero but Maya seems to be pretty badass. Haven't played yet so out of Maya and Zero, who should I roll with?

After looking at his skill tree decided just wasn't the kinda character that fits my style. I'm not a close up fighter. Love the sniper rifles and long range weapons. Loved Mordicai on borderlands. The bloodwing was a awesome skill.

I rolled Mordecai in the first as well. I played all of them at max level though and siren was fun in the first as well.
Currently just started playing the 2nd as Zero. He does have a skill tree entirely dedicated to sniping, so if that is your game then definitely roll with Zero. I haven't actually gotten a sniper rifle yet, but once I do it will be my weapon of choice from here on out.
Plus his action ability is pimp. Great for running away and it does increased damage (I imagine it will play nicely with sniping).

I've played Maya to level 10.
I've played Zero to level 11.
I played Zero all night tonight and honestly I can't wait to play with Maya again. Her special is incredibly better than Zero's. I just don't get his. Go invisible for 5 seconds for what? Also, he has little to no skills for a team. Except Marking, which marks a specific enemy and while marked everyone on the team does increased damage to that enemy. But that's a later skill.
Maya's Phaslock is incredible. It can be used up close or from a distance. Almost immediately when you Phaselock you can receive health orbs for you and your teammates everyone you PhaaeLock. When an enemy is Phaselocked if the entire team concentrates fire the enemy is done for.
Eventually you can PhaseLock more than one enemy, the Phaselock will cause an explosion, it does elemental damage, and once it kills one enemy it will instantly move to another enemy.
I'm sure at high levels, both characters are badass, but early Maya's skills seem almost OP compared to Zero's. IMO

Started with Maya because I loved the Siren character in the original. I'm at level 10 right now (going to bed), I'm overwhelmed by how broken phaselock is. Using elemental weapons phaselock just becomes too good in the early stages, and judging by the skill trees it will only get better. That being said, I haven't tried any of the others.

I would start with Maya if I were you. I like her character. And I think she is amazingly better than Zero, what about her unbelievable phaselock. I like both characters, but I think I would choose Maya over Zero anytime.

I've been shocked at the range of the phaselock. I had a few instances where my target moved at the last minute, but something off in the distance was in my dark bubble.

Make sure you touch the electric fence every time. It's different for every character.

I suggest starting a game with all the characters and at least advancing them past the opening part of the game.

Gunzerking is just fun for me. I like sniping too but it's fun as hell when you have 5 or 6 mobs on you and you hit that button... I like shotgun in right hand, and a elemental pistol that lobs fireballs in the left hand. its a real shite show haha. my brother came in last night right in the middle of me zerking and was like, "what in the frick is going on in this game" 
I like this guy because I really enjoy blowing shite up, guns blazing. i think it comes from my days spending countless hours on GTA blowing up cop cars and helicopters with rocket launchers. I don't know if i ever actaully completed any of those games.

Yeah I used maya and her skill is pretty awesome. Defiantly still gonna try zero in my second run thru

Double turrets for Axton is unstoppable. On top of doing a ton of damage, it provides shields and aggro's the enemies.
