Nintendo pretty much invented the controller and all of the best ones, save for the ps2 controller, are Nintendo

I guess where Nintendo beats playstaion controller is the gamecube kind of figured out that you press this main button more than any other, so they made it kind of the center button and the other ones went around it

but yes, I was thinking gamecube had to be the winner but did not expect it to even get a vote, and yet it wins the OP

BTW: I was up unitl 4 cranking out some rogue squadron II...finally got the gold medal on the death star level, which is probably one of the hardest achievements in gaming along with some of the time runs in goldeneye

It just felt awkward to handle, and the middle mechanisms felt just out of location.

Fair enough. Everyone's hands are different, so there's no right or wrong answer.

Gotta go with gamecube followed by the PS4 because it fits my hand really well. My thumbs had a more difficult time maintaining control on the left stick of the 360.

As far as worst controllers, the Wii controller is dumb and not for me. On top of that I'd have to say the n64 controller idea worked but was just awkward to have to hold the middle and right handles most often. The analog stick should never be in the middle of a controller.

yeah, but gamecube understands that not all buttons are equal and the design reflects that and so it's pretty much a pickup and play controller...you don't need to get used to it, or ever have to look down to see which button is which (for first timers)

it's just a great controller.

I don't like the new central layout of the ps4...the pad and the start button and option button...it's just not natural, otherwise it would be the best PS controller and the #2 all time IMO

Oh yeah I agree wholeheartedly there. Thankfully I'm not having to push those buttons too often so for it's not too noticeable and I can enjoy the controller anyways.

My hands would often time slip off of the PS3 handles.. that doesn't happen with this controller.

I actually like the touch pad on the PS4. It's been integrated into the games pretty well so far. As far as the options and share buttons, they definitely feel out of the way and hard to get to.

Sony needs to get with the program, quit with the tradition nonsense, and put the left joystick where it belongs.

Until that happens, I will continually assert that the Japanese either have fricked up hands or they are about 10,000 years behind the study of human anatomy.

I have no idea why you have problems with it. I prefer my Analog sticks to both be at the middle bottom area. It makes it much easier for me to work the camera and aim. I love the PS3 and PS4 controllers. I have seen you and others complain about it, and the only thing I can come up with is you use two fingers on the triggers. It is the only way I can get that controller to be uncomfortable for me. Using one finger on the triggers works perfectly.

This I cannot stand the left stick being up top.

My vote.

Best: PS4
Worst: N64

you have to cut the n64 some slack though.

It was the pioneer, and the controller was bad for some games, particularly 3rd party non exclusive titles...it was excellent for most

it was perfect for what it needed to be. Imagine Mario and Zelda 64 without a z button.

That guy can't play Dreamcast. He simply can't do it. he's shite out of luck

Married guys, do you take your wedding ring off to game? Does it bother you? I usually don't even think about mine, but occasionally it gets distracting, especially when it's loudly knocking against the back of the dualshock while i'm trying to mash L buttons. Also can seem like it's limiting my range of motion, even though it's really not, I just hate having the distraction.

I never even notice I'm wearing it unless I'm looking at it.

Of course.

What was up with all the white chalk shite that used to come out of the analog stick?

They used a cheap lubricant that was water-based instead of oil-based. The water eventually evaporates, leaving the powder behind.

I made that up, but I think I'm right.

The placement is abnormal and requires the use of excess energy and movement for the base directions.

Explanation:

The left joysticks purpose base purpose is forward and backwards. When the joystick is placed in the position like the Xbox controller, forward and backward are simple, natural movements involving the bending and extension of the thumb only.

When it is placed in the position on PS controllers, it complicates the movements. It requires bending the thumb and lateral movements which slows down movement speed. This is one of the reasons PS controllers are not used for pro-gaming.

The location of the right joystick is correct since left and right are the base directions, and like the left joystick should be, those movements require only bending and extending the thumb.

It is science and anatomy.

Sony is anatomically ignorant.
