Assassin's Creed Black Flag

Downloaded it for the free game of the half month on Xbox Live gold and was just wondering what the opinion on the game is? I've never played an Assassins game before, they always looked interesting, just never happened to pick one up.
So is it worth my time, or nah?

This game would of been better not as an Assassin's Creed game. It would of been a great modernization take on Sid Meyer's Pirates. It's still one of the best AC games. Definitely worth a play.

I started the game shortly after release, didn't like it, and haven't played it since. I haven't been able to let myself trade it or anything because I keep thinking I want to give it another try.
It's been a while but I just thought the story was dumb. If I remember correctly, one of the first things you do in the game is chase down, kill, and steal the cloak of an Assasin. In past games, I've taken on dozens of men at time with an Assasin. Yet, in this game a pirate just chases down and kills an Assasin? It pretty much lost me there.
I know I probably didn't give the game much of a chance so hopefully some of you can talk me into giving it another try.

I started with AC3 and have enjoyed the series. Black Flags was fun but I did not like the boating. JMO though, most people liked it. But it was cool to go from island to island.

Got it for free and have been trying it. Terrible. The ship segments are just awful

It's one of the best PS4 games I own. I love the Assassin's Creed Kenway Saga. Play AC Rogue after you finish Black Flag.

If Rouge came out before Black Flag, no one would ever talk about Black Flag. Pretty solid AC game though.

Rogue was surprisingly good. Enjoyed playing the other side. Of course, playing it after that craptacular Unity might have colored me a little. Still, I recommend it. Better story than BF with less sailing.
