This game is beautiful and alot of fun.

I've shifted my gaming focus to time wasting easy to pick up and put down games lately.

My top 3 are:

City Skylines
Kerbal Space Program
Elite Dangerous

I'm debating buying a joystick for it.

150 plus whatever shipping costs. ill have to imigur the stands later so you can see if you want them or not, thatle add a bit to shipping.

only used for a few hours of star citizen until i figured out MKB is better for dogfighting. i have the extra springs for the stick still but not the original box.

I tried it out. I really wanted to like it, and parts of it were very enjoyable. But the game would randomly un-invert my flight controls, and there was no way I could get them back the way I wanted them short of starting the game over. Anyone else have this problem? I'm on Xbox One, by the way.

I play some a couple times a week on PC. The Joystick really is nice for it. Dragged my very old joystick from IL-2 Sturmyovik days out for it (Wingman Extreme 3D).

Have heard good things about the Customer Support, may want to check with the Devs on the controls inversion TideMustRoll. The r/EliteDangerous/and Game Forum might have something on that too.

Yeah, I looked around on the Googler and didn't find much back when I was trying to play, but maybe I'll check those sources you mentioned. BF1 and Battlefront take up almost all my gaming time these days.

Haha I have over 300 in it. I didn't mean easy to learn, easy to stop and start.

I got it and started playing. Only have done a few courier and cargo missions in solo mode. I'm absolutely awful at landing but getting better. Haven't tried any combat outside of training mission (which I keep failing)

Docking computer is only 1000 credits, it does take an optional interior slot though.

The game is such a vast area that once you get out of the starter system (maybe a couple jumps away) that unless you go to a Community Goal area you may never see another human controlled craft in open. The starter and adjacent systems though are known to get griefed by newbie PVP'ers preying on the weak and vulnerable for their jollies though.

BTW, for newbies starting out and needing easy cash, the CG Delivery missions are simple. I made 14+ million credits for like 30 minutes play dropping off a few cargo's. Station 2 jumps from the CG had the item cheap, I think it was 5 trips put me in the 50% category (jump, jump, dock, reverse, repeat).

How is Elite on Xbox compared to PC? I have it on PC but can't always be bothered to make room for my joystick.

I really like Elite even though it seems at times the depth of the game is in how you perform simple tasks rather than there actually being a wide variety of things to do in the game.

I still haven't figured out how to upgrade my sidewinder. I guess I have to go to a station that has that? I've only been to small outposts delivering data. I'd like to find some bounty missions are there easy ones for that?

You have to go to a big station not a little outpost. If you click on the system map around a star you can look at the idividual station offerings and see which has shipyards, hangers, black markets, etc...

I started with an eagle doing bounties and combat missions, but I find smuggling is a lot more fun. I kept my original combat ship to run small kill missions, but I like having to go silent mode and disable everything and try and land within 30 seconds before life support runs out while avoiding the scanners and using limpets to silently pop cargo hinges a lot more.

As a smuggler, I mine and smuggle and pirate, etc... I found combat to get a tad monotonous.

You can also make a shitload of money with Those long passages missions of you have a fuel scoop and a hell of a FSD

And I imagine I can sub upgrades and modules in and out? So if I want to try mining I can and then change up to do combat.

Correct. but the ships built for cargo do have advantages over ships built for combat. They did do a really good job of balancing in this game.

Here's some really helpful links for all types of playstyles really:

Elite Dangerous database to look up all kinds of useful stuff. Buying a mid to high level ship? Use it find a Station, with Shipyard, under the Power Li Yong-Rui for 15% discount including the internals get the 15% off.

Wanna do trading station:Station? Thrudds tells you most profitable from here to there take X, the return trip take Y for a margin of Z/Q per item.

Wanna go mining? Pristine Metallics Distance Calculator tells you nearest system to find the 3 P's (Painite, Platinum, Palladium) which are only in Pristine Metallic rings.

Bounty hunting ya ask? Mr. Gr3y's Bounty Hunting Systems

The "state" of systems changes (Boom, War, Outbreak) and changes profits and activities in the systems. War and Boom systems bring about Bounty Hunting big time (Boom good for pirating too), Outbreak is for pirating med supplies.

Outfitting is for upgrading or swapping modules or the Free Stickers from the Store if that's still available, paint jobs and ship kits from store too in the Livery section of outfitting.

Shipyard is not just for buying ships. If you go someplace new it's a lot easier to use shipyard to transfer your other owned ships than run back and forth.

Quick question can cargo scoop also pick up materials? I've used it successfully to get canisters but not materials, what gives?
