recently ran across my old nes. Still have all the remotes and cables, just need to order the 72 pin connector and replace it. How hard is it to do? And does that normally fix the blowing into the game problem?

I did it several years ago. I called nintendo and they actually sent me a new connector. They were allowing one per customer but I've heard they're no longer doing this.

The "blowing" actually made the problem worse. Some of the moisture people would blow into the cartridges assisted in the corrosion. It was just a faulty piece and the new ones are much more resistant.

After changing mine out, I've never had to blow in another cartridge again.

very easy. just look on ebay. you can get one cheap and it will include a tool (you may not need this if you have a plethora of tools) to get this done.

Well worth it as blowing is a thing of the past, well except for paperboy.... dam game.
