Ok, the Top 50 is out. Get your knives out and lets destroy this list!!

This was a Voting campaign, FYI.

Zagat

#1 Gautreau's
#2 Commander's Palace
#3 August
#4 Brigtsen's Restaurant
#5 Clancy's Restaurant
#6 Cochon Butcher
#7 Bayona
#8 Restaurant R'evolution
#9 Boucherie
#10 Rue 127
#11 Toups Meatery
#12 Sal & Judy's Crazy
#13 GW Fins
#14 Mr. John's Steakhouse
#15 Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse Meh.
#16 Irene's Cuisine Overrated
#17 Bistro Daisy Elderly Vote?
#18 K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen
#19 Cochon Restaurant Oddly low
#20 Doris Metropolitan Low but new
#21 Mr. B's Bistro
#22 Coquette Feels low
#23 Peche Seafood Grill Wah?
#24 Galatoire's
#25 Patois

That's 1/2 the list. Feel free to check the link for the remainder. I'm sure a few fell off. Peche at 23 (best new restaurant US) is insane. Sal & Judy's almost in the top 10 is laughable. What say you F&D boarders?

ETA: I left off quite a few heavy hitters from the list. Many apologies, but I couldn't just cut and paste.

#7 Bayona

I know people on here abuse themselves over this place, but I had a horrible experience there.

It's good and I enjoy it but I don't see that much praise for the place here.

Herbsaint at #33 is an abomination.

I was far from blown away by my last meal there.

It's still a solid place, but I'm not sure it's top 10 anymore.

Top 50 lists are impossible to please everyone. I will say there are a bunch of fricking good restaurants in this city.

That list is ridiculous. Boucherie in top 10 ahead of Coquette and Peche? Butcher at #6 over Cochon? Sal & Judy's at 12? Mr. B's and Irene's in top 25 over Herbsaint, La Petite Grocery, Lilette, Le Foret?

This is the biggest problem I have with this part of the list you posted.

Why no love for Sal & Judy's? It's one of my favorites, and I think it's worthy of the ranking. I like Peche, but not as much as the rest of you apparently do. I agree with the poster above: it's impossible to please everyone when you do a list like this.

Bayona is extremely underwhelming IMO. I personally do not get the love at all.

Ive have average experiences at Boucherie and Toups Meatery. I find both of their menu's rather boring and small.

Cochon Butcher is GREAT for what it is, but seems like a fish out of water with some of the other places.

I think it's just that style heavy tomato sauce doesn't do it for me anymore. I grew up eating red sauce as a child. Now I've experience different style Italian food and it's hard for me to enjoy that style. Also, the last time I went to Sal & Judy's it was a really bad experience. We went with a large group and they brought us basically the entire menu. I wasn't impressed with a single offering.

Ehhh, I don't know about that. I would certainly rate a lot of those places differently, and may include some not on that list and get rid of others that are. But, all of those places are pretty solid (nothing on there is truly terrible by any stretch) and if you're an out-of-towner who, say, doesn't know any better, it gives you a decent idea of places that are at least popular.

I agree there's nothing terribly wrong with this list , I just find Zagat to be pretty bad.

Agreed that Lilette is the biggest omission?
